Multi-Peptide + HA Serum from The Ordinary is a topical skin serum meant to help with the signs of aging.

On EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database website, this product is rated a 3, which falls into the yellow, or moderate hazard, category. There is zero to good data on most of the ingredients.

There is also plenty of information on Deceim’s website about this product.

The reviews are pretty mixed with some people stating the product works amazingly well for them, with others saying they haven’t noticed any changes with their skin or that they found the product very sticky.

It seems that this product may have been reformulated more than once so it’s hard to say which formula each reviewer had as compared to mine. Since I’ve finished my bottle, the name of the product has changed, but I am unsure if there was a change in the formula, as well.

Benefits of Peptides For The Skin

Peptides are a like a super ingredient for the skin with many potential benefits including:

  • brighten and smooth skin tone
  • reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • boost collagen production
  • improve the skin barrier to increase hydration
  • reduce inflammation
  • reduce acne

My Review

A dropper with a drop of liquid being held over a The Ordinary Multi-Peptide serum bottle.

As mentioned above, many of the lower rated reviews were from consumers complaining about the stickiness or ineffectiveness of the product. I had no irritation, but very few products have ever been irritating to my skin.

The positive reviews rave about how much healthier their skin looks and about the reduction in fine lines.

My Skin Type

I have normal to combination skin. I do get a tad oily, mostly around my nose. There are visible pores on my nose and cheeks. I do not get blemishes often.

There is a larger dark spot on one check and some smaller spots or freckling around my eyes. I also have several areas of melasma under my eyes and on my cheeks.

I’m 45 with only slight fine lines around my eyes that become more visible when I smile. I am also noticing a decrease in firmness.

There are dark circles under my eyes and especially in the inner corners of my eyes.

How I Use Multi-Peptide + HA Serum

I used this product over my entire face after washing in the morning and prior to moisturizer. I use retinol at night and don’t mix these two ever.

It goes on smoothly and absorbs very quickly. I did notice a light tackiness but once I applied moisturizer over it, it was no longer noticeable.

As mentioned above, I experience no irritation or redness.

I used this product until the bottle was gone which lasted about 6 weeks.

I do feel that my skin did look fresher and healthier. Again, I only have very fine lines that are mostly visible only if I’m smiling or my skin is dry so I can’t speak much for how well it works on wrinkles.

I have read many, many excellent reviews on the effectiveness of peptides for anti-aging. Overall, they are less irritating than retinol but not as strong as retinol. I chose to only use peptides in the morning and retinol in the evening to get the benefits of both types of products.

I do plan to continue using peptides but will most likely be testing some different options from The Ordinary next.

Cons

For me, there are no cons to this product.

From the reviews, it may be wise to patch test before using this product over your entire face in case of irritation or uncomfortable stickiness.

As always, I do still recommend trying this product if you feel that your skin could benefit from it. Products from The Ordinary are so budget-friendly that they are absolutely worth trying. This particular product starts at just $17.50.

You never know, it could end up becoming one of your “holy grail” beauty products. And if not, you won’t be out much money at all.
