It’s time for my last FabFitFun box review. This is the Winter 2023 box.
As a reminder, annual subscribers can choose all of their items. Seasonal subscribers are still limited to only being able to choose from the first three categories.
I am an annual member and chose each item in my box. I definitely feel the boxes are more fit for me, and I have less items that I don’t want.
This is my last box, as I did finally decide to cancel my subscription and have now signed up for Beachly instead. The first reason being that I have far too many beauty products to use up, and the second being that I often do not want or need the non-beauty choices.
For those not familiar with FabFitFun, I’ll try to explain how it all works and answer any questions you might have. If you already know the deal, then skip on ahead to check out all of the items!
What Is FabFitFun?
FabFitFun is a women’s lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. Each box is curated for the season and contains fashion, beauty, home, travel, fitness, food items, and more!
They used to include a magazine, but I think it’s all online now. I spend way too much time online as it is, so as much as I usually enjoy the magazine, I probably won’t read it on the website.
Can You Customize Your FabFitFun Box?
Yes, there are multiple ways to customize you box including the standard box choices, adding on box choices, and by shopping add-on’s, Boost My Box and Refills.
Just be aware that customization closes before boxes start to ship so you may have to wait until the next box to be able to customize.
Standard Box Choices
Each quarter, subscribers get to choose some or all of the items they will receive. If you become an annual subscriber, you get to customize your entire box now. Seasonal members usually get to choose items from 3 categories.
Additional Box Choices
I also love that most quarters, FabFitFun allows you to add on additional choice items for much lower than the original cost.
Add On’s and Boost My Box
In addition to being able to add on additional choice items, FabFitFun also opens a window of time where you can purchase add-ons for significantly lower prices than the retail cost.
Annual subscribers get access first and usually the best stuff is sold out right away. But it’s always worth checking out multiple times as people have a few days to change their minds and update their carts before they are charged.
The Boost My Box option is still pretty new. It’s an option to add 1 of 3 “luxury” items to your box for a discounted rate. I didn’t choose to boost my box this season.
If you choose to become a seasonal member, an extra perk of buying an additional choice item or add-on items, is that your FabFitFun box will be shipped in the first wave, after annual subscribers.
** Keep in mind that the window to customize your items closes before boxes ship. If you sign up after the window is closed, you won’t get to choose items until the next season’s box.
How Much Does FabFitFun Cost?
FabFitFun is regularly $59.99 a quarter. Each box contains over $200.00 in items (usually well over)! You can also pay for a year (4 boxes) upfront for a total of $219.99 which saves you $20.00 over the year and also gives you additional benefits including:
- complete customization
- access to add-ons before anyone else
- earlier shipping

Now that we got through all of that, let’s see what’s in this season’s box!
FabFitFun Winter 2023 Review
Please keep in mind that some items will vary and that you will not have the ability to choose items at this time. The window to choose items is only open for a short period of time, before boxes start shipping out.
Note: the first box when you join is usually a Member’s Picks Box (or something similar) which may or may not contain some of these items. There has also been a bit of customization available with this intro box, as well.
Commodity Milk Fragrance ($75.00)
I have another Commodity fragrance, Gold, that I love so I really wanted to try this one as well.
They are completely different scents, which is nice.
The Gold is more spicy, while this one is more sweet but with a bit of musk, maybe? I’m terrible at describing scents, but these are unisex so there’s definitely a combination of scents happening here.
I do like this and am curious to see what other scents they make.

SusieCakes Cake Stand ($30.00)
I’m super disappointed in this stand.
I chose it since I am a food blogger and thought I could use this as a prop when making and photographing cakes or cupcakes.
Maybe I missed it in the description, but this is made from cheap plastic and has the brand logo right on top of the stand.
It literally feels like a child’s toy as far as the quality goes and because it’s plastic, I don’t think I’d trust it to hold anything I wouldn’t want to get knocked over.
This item is made in China.
OUAI Leave In Conditioner ($30.00)
I’ve used this leave-in conditioner before and really liked it.
Ouai products have all worked really well for me, but I did recently switch to a shampoo and conditioner to help with hair loss and regrowth that I absolutely love.
I will likely still try to use this just because I know I liked it in the past, but I don’t really “need” it now that it would kind of be more like an unnecessary addition.

Mystery Choice: Green Goo Plants For Your Face All Over Face + Body Wash ($24.99)
There was literally nothing that I wanted in this category. For the first time ever, I chose the “Surprise Me” option.
This is a face and body wash oil. It has a very strong herb scent to it, but I do like it.
I will likely only use this as a body wash, as it’s supposed to be hydrating and perfect for drier winter skin.
I’m not sure where this product is made, but the business address on the bottle in Colorado.
Playground Water Based Personal Lubricant ($25.00)
This was another underwhelming category.
I don’t really care for any of the choices, so I just went with something that I’ve never gotten in a subscription box before.
The scent is champagne and vanilla, which seemed a little strong when I smelled it in the bottle. I rubbed a little on the back of my hand and could barely smell anything at all, so it may not be overly strong after all.
I’m not sure the outside of the bottle is dirty though. It doesn’t come off and there’s a huge sticker with a code on one side. It does make it look cheap and not like I’d expect a more premium $25 lubricant to be packagaed.

Versed Skin Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum ($21.99)
I chose this because I’ve been trying to use retinol in my nightly skincare routine.
I’m currently using a 0.5% retinol which I recently decided isn’t strong enough. I have zero side effects and haven’t noticed any significant changes with my skin, so I’m just assuming I can handle something a little stronger.
This product doesn’t state how strong the retinol is. It’s a combination product that has both encapsulated retinol and a retinol alternative that’s meant to be gentler, bakuchiol.
Normally I would use this right up, but now that I’m feeling like I need something strong, I’m not sure if I’ll use this or pass it along to someone else to try.
This product is made in the USA.
Winter 2023 Add On’s
I did not purchase any add on’s this season.
FabFitFun Winter 2023 Final Thoughts
Overall I was pretty disappointed in this box. I ended up choosing things I didn’t really need or want simply because they were the item(s) that I didn’t want the least.
I’m simply overwhelmed with beauty products and not all that interested in more of the same types of non-beauty items. I honestly think this just happens when you subscribe to subscription boxes for an extended period of time.
So, yes I did finally cancel this subscription.
Since reviews are just a matter of personal opinion, let’s talk about value of the Winter 2023 FabFitFun box.
- Is this seasons box worth the money that I paid for it? In my opinion, not this time. I received $206.98 worth of items that I got to choose, although I am sure some prices are inflated. For me, what makes a box “worth it” is if I will use the large majority of the products and this season I really only care for 2 of the 6 items.
- Next, does this box fit the season? I think there were plenty of items to choose from that have a winter vibe to them. I just didn’t choose those items because I didn’t need more throws, candles, or robes etc.
- Does this box hit on Fab, Fit, and Fun? My answer is usually the same. There are always plenty of “fab” and “fun” items, but the “fit” section is usually lacking. This season there was a yoga block and a couple different Lemme supplements.
