What do you get in your first Beachly subscription box? Great question! The items you may receive in your first Beachly box will vary depending on the season and what’s available to choose from. I received 6 items in my first box, most being choices from the Summer 2023 box.

I finally made the decision to cancel my FabFitFun subscription (with one box left to go). I was overloaded on beauty products and haven’t been loving, or needing, the non-beauty items as much.
I wanted to move on to a subscription that didn’t focus much on beauty products, but more so on lifestyle.
Being obsessed with all things beach-related for as long as I can remember, Beachly may just be the perfect fit.
It’s a subscription box filled with coastal-inspired goodies and includes much more than just beauty, if any at all.
To begin, I decided to join as a seasonal member to kind of test the waters and decide if upgrading to an annual subscription is something I want to do.

Beachly And I Are Off To A Rough Start
First, I expected to get the summer box, but that didn’t happen. I was instead given options from some past boxes to choose from.
Second, I was only given 3-4 of the same items to choose from repeatedly in all of the categories. How many of the same beach coverups does one need? Apparently 5.
I contacted Beachly who confirmed that was an error and sent me a new link to choose from. They didn’t respond about my inquiry about not getting the actual summer box and I didn’t recall reading anything about a “Welcome Box” being the first box. In fact, the top of the website read something along the lines of “Almost sold out – get the Summer 2023 Beachly box now!”
However, when I look back at the website there is information about a welcome box in the FAQ’s, but no information when you click to join – just that you can get the Fall box now. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement!
Finally, I guess I also just missed the cut off for choosing items for the Fall 2023 box. There was no information provided about choosing items for that box, or anything related to it at all after I ordered. I’m expecting to get a bunch of randomly picked items.
It could be fun to have an entire box of surprises, or could be a huge miss. With so many items being clothing or decor, both of which I can be a bit picky about, I’m a little nervous.
What Is Beachly?
Beachly is a coastal lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. There is a women’s box and a men’s box.
It contains items like clothing, jewelry, decor, and more.
Can You Customize Your Beachly Box?
Yes, it appears that you can customize a couple of the items in your Beachly box. I still haven’t gotten to choose for an upcoming season yet. I will update this in future reviews once I’ve gone through the process myself.
Just be aware that customization closes before boxes start to ship so you may have to wait until the next box to be able to customize.
It appears that add-ons are also an option.
Again, I haven’t been through this process yet and will update this section in future reviews once I learn more.
How Much Does Beachly Cost?
Beachly has two subscription tiers, seasonal and annual. Seasonal is $99.00 a quarter. You can also pay for an annual subscription (4 boxes) upfront for a total of $336.00 which saves you $60.00 over the year.
First Beachly Review
Please keep in mind that some items will vary and that you will not have the ability to choose all of these items at this time. The window to choose items is only open for a short period of time, before boxes start shipping out.
Note: it seems the first box is a welcome box, where you get to choose from some newer and some past box items.
Alljoy Towel in Palm or Pineapple by Spartina 449 ($56.00)
This was one of the choices for the summer 2023 box so I was happy to see it available when I chose my items.
There was also a palm design in shades of green. I chose the pineapple simply because it was pink and would keep my teenage son from stealing it – ha!
It’s a nice size towel and soft. I haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet since it’s so late in the season, so I’m not sure how it will hold up. It appears to be well made.
This item was made in India.
The Isla Jute Seashell Tote by Salt + Umber ($149.00)
My second choice was also an option from the Summer 2023 box.
This cute jute tote with seashells sewn throughout is perfect for summers at the beach.
Personally, I wouldn’t take it to the actual beach, even though it’s probably big enough to carry everything one person would need. I wouldn’t want it to get sandy. I would definitely take it for shopping, eating out, or pretty much anything else we take the kids to do while at the beach.
It has a magnetic closure which is really nice and an inside pocket for your phone, keys, etc.
This item was made in India.
The Bombshell Catchall Tray by Beachly ($44.00)
And here we have it, our first over-valued item.
This is a Beachly branded item. It doesn’t really have anything super special about it. The wood feels kind of cheap, but it is cute.
I would say it’s probably more accurately valued around $15.00.
I’ll probably use it on our back porch during the summer.
This item doesn’t state where it’s made, or I missed it somehow.
The Coconut Beach Candle by Backyard Candles ($12.00)
I love this cute little coconut candle.
It smells so good, just like sitting on the beach smelling all of the suntan lotion in the air, and is definitely more unique.
I’m not so sure we need to up-cycle coconut shells (do they not break down?), but this is definitely a cute, beachy way to do so!
This item was made in the USA.
The Flor de Amor Tank by Beachly ($38.00)
While all the above items came from the Summer 2023 box, the remaining items came from various other boxes.
This tank was a choice item from the Spring 2023 box.
It’s another Beachy branded item, but actually very nice.
I wasn’t sure how to size because I’m in between sizes, but sized down and it fits just like it should.
I really like it. It will be perfect to wear over my swimsuit at the pool or beach.
This item was made in China.
Team Aloha Pocket Tee By Guava Shop Hawaii ($44.00)
This t-shirt was a choice item from the Summer 2022 box.
Again, I wasn’t sure what size to choose, so I sized down and it fits great.
It’s also well made and soft. It’s another super beachy item!
This item was made in Bangladesh.
First Beachly Box Final Thoughts
Overall I’m really happy with my first box.
Are there things that are over-valued? There always in with these kinds of subscription boxes. If the value to me exceeds the money I paid, I’m happy.
I do think that Beachly does a great job at choosing items that fit within their niche. It will be interesting to see what comes in the cooler months.
I am still on the fence about upgrading to an annual subscription. I’m not sure I’ve really figured out how Beachly works just yet, but once I do I’ll be sure to add much more detail in future reviews.
