My Boxycharm Premium box shipped later than usual this month. I usually get my premium box first, but my January 2021 Boxycharm Base Box showed up well before this one.
It would have been even sooner, if USPS wasn’t such a mess right now.
This is actually the third month in a row now that I personally feel that the base box options are better. However, I am still pretty happy with the items that I received in my premium box.
I’ll explain exactly how BoxyCharm works below, as well as share a complete review of my BoxyCharm Premium box. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the January 2021 BoxyCharm Premium Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

January 2021 Boxycharm Premium Review
FENTY Beauty – Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder in Butter $32.00)
I’ve heard really good things about the Fenty Beauty brand but have yet to try them myself.
This Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder was my choice item this month. As usual, I wasn’t able to choose until later in the day so some shades were already gone.
I did a little research and think that the shade butter might be good for me. I haven’t tried it yet, but will as soon as I can.
This powder is supposed to blur the appearance of pores, fine lines and imperfections. It’s meant to set your makeup and brighten your skin.
BoxyCharm Exclusive Ofra Good To Go Mini Mix Face Palette ($39.00)
Ofra is known for their highlighters, so I know a lot of people were really happy to get this Good To Go Mini Mix Palette.
While the highlighter is beautiful and one of Ofra’s most popular shades, All The Lights, I’m not sure yet if I am going to keep this palette.
I’m on palette overload, but we’ll see. If I keep it, I’ll update this later as to what I think of it.
PMD Beauty Silverpure Makeup Removing Cloth ($30.00)
All I know of PMD beauty is their pore sucking device. I’ve never tried it, but it’s so tempting!
This Silverpure Makeup Removing Cloth reminds me very much of the Make Up Eraser towel.
I guess Boxycharm has decided that whenever a makeup removing wash cloth is available, I should get it.
I honestly don’t care for the other one, and I probably wouldn’t keep this except for the fact that I need some new wash clothes.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask ($48.00)
The Jet Lag mask from Summer Fridays can be used as a nighttime mask, daytime moisturizer or in-flight lifesaver? Whatever that means.
It has vitamins, ceramides and antioxidants to leave skin instantly renewed and radiant.
I am hoping that it’s super moisturizing, because between the incredibly cold, dry weather we’ve been having lately, a ton of stress and living out of a hotel indefinitely (long story), my skin looks and feels terrible.
Fenty Beauty Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara ($24.00)
Oh boy! More mascara!
Honestly, I have no idea how many tubes I have yet to get through. I haven’t been wearing makeup most days, especially lately.
This Full Frontal Mascara has a 2-sided brush. One side is meant to hold a lot of product to load and lift the lashes, while the other side defines and curls.
Again, I’ve heard great things about Fenty, so I do plan to keep this and will hopefully get around to trying it soon.
Ren Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser ($32.00)
This Ren Perfect Canvas cleanser is one product that I do plan to use very soon!
As I mentioned above, we are living out of a hotel. My fiancé grabbed my face cleanser out of the shower at our home before we had to leave, but it’s the Kylie Skin Cleanser and I literally hate it.
I especially like that this cleanser is supposed to be able to remove waterproof makeup and that it starts as more of an oil, then changes to a milk. Sounds interesting and I think it will be much more effective.
I’ll update this section very soon as to how this product works.
Final Thoughts
The retail value of my particular box is $205.00 which is amazing for a $35.00 box. Obviously, this is only the case if you are going to actually use most or all the items.
I’m most excited for the Fenty powder and mascara, the Ren cleanser and the Summer Friday face mask.
The choice items for February are:
- Elemis Musclease Active Body Oil
- Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01
- KVD Vegan Beauty Go Big or Go Home Mascara in Trooper Black
- PÜR Submerge Overnight Detox Anti-Pollution Moisturizer
I chose the Elemis Musclease Active Body Oil. It’s nice to see a body product since Boxycharm has sent a ton of face creams lately. I also really seem to like this brand.
