My January 2021 Boxycharm Base Box showed up on January 22 this month. I’m going to blame USPS on this one because it was held up for 7 days about 15 miles away.
I still haven’t gotten my premium box, which usually comes first.
When I looked at all the items that could possible be in both boxes, once again, I’m more excited for the base box products.
Below is all about how Boxycharm works, but if you are already familiar and just want to see the products, skip on down to the January 2021 Boxycharm Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

January 2021 Boxycharm Review
PÜR 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer ($35.00)
The PÜR 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer was my choice item this month. The shade that I chose is LN2 which is fair ivory with neutral undertones.
I chose this because I have really liked using the Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation that I got in my October 2020 Boxycharm Box and I was hoping this would be somewhat similar.
The biggest differences are that the PÜR product does not seem to be oil-based, is marketed at a moisturizer rather than a foundation and has a more shimmery finish. Both have light coverage.
It’s actually very pretty and will be great for those days where you don’t want to wear makeup, but still want your skin to glow.
This product is made in the USA.
Bali Balm Sweet Orange Coconut Lip Balm ($33.00)
The next item is the Bali Balm Sweet Orange Coconut Lip Balm. It’s vegan and bee-friendly.
This lip balm is made with coconut oil, kukui nut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, caster oil, orange, peppermint and more.
It goes on with a similar feel to straight coconut oil. While there is a some orange scent and flavor that comes through, the peppermint kind of throws it off for me.
To be fair, I’m not a fan of peppermint at all.
It does feel nice and moisturizing on the lips and lasted a good amount of time.
The price is quite high, but a little bit does go a long way. It’s also made in the USA.
Ciaté London Velvet Eyeshadow Palette ($30.00)
Personally, I was a little indifferent about receiving the Ciaté London Velvet Eyeshadow Palette.
The same day that I got my January 2021 Boxycharm box, I also got my December 2020 Allure Beauty Box. Yes, it comes insanely late.
Inside of my Allure box was a smaller Ciaté London Palette and I also got one in my August 2020 Boxycharm Premium Box.
While the colors in this palette are so gorgeous, I just don’t know that I’m going to keep it. I’ve had some issues not being able to blend the eyeshadows in the palette from August, but it may be the primer that I’m using.
I’m going to play around with the palette I have open with a new primer and see how it goes. Sadly, I may end up not using this one.
This product is made in China.
Farmacy Deep Sweep 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner ($28.00)
I love Farmacy brand products and was happy to see this Deep Sweep 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner in my box.
I probably won’t get to it for awhile because I’m currently testing The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, but hopefully soon.
This toner is supposed to gently clean pores, exfoliate and control oil without over-stripping the skin. My skin has been incredibly dry the last couple weeks but still gets oily in the t-zone, so this toner sounds like just what I need!
It’s also made in the USA exclusively for Boxycharm.
Seraphine Botanicals Apple + Baume Glow Lip Mask ($25.00)
The final product in this months box is this Seraphine Botanicals Apple + Baume Glow Lip Mask. Yes, basically it’s another lip balm.
This one is ideal for use at night right before bed. It’s also vegan and cruelty free.
This lip product is made with apricot oil, shea butter, jojoba seed oil, apple extract, pineapple extract and more.
It’s made in China and this product was made exclusively for Boxycharm.
Final Thoughts
This box is a pretty good one for me.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $151.00 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm. I always say that the value is there with Boxycharm if you’re going to use most of the items.
This month, I am most excited for the PÜR tinted moisturizer and the Farmacy toner. I will also use both lip products but I am on the fence about the palette.
There are 3 items that subscribers can choose from for their February 2021 box. They are:
- Brow Bar By Reema Bombshell Brow Kit
- Ace Beautè Nostalgia Palette
- Wander Beauty Getaway Eye and Face Palette
I choose the Brow Bar by Reema. I’m not much of a brow products girl, but I am overloaded on palettes.
