The Winter 2020 FabFitFun subscription box is full of fun, useful items perfect for the season! Check out my review as well as all of the potential items you may receive (plus some add-ons) if you sign up for your own box. It’s only $49.99 for over $300 worth of awesome stuff!

I look forward to my seasonal FabFitFun subscription box every season. The summer and fall boxes are usually my favorites, and I pretty much still feel that way after receiving my winter box.

It’s an extremely useful box and very fitting for the season. When spoilers first came out, I wasn’t super excited. But, as I opened this box, I realized it’s much better than I initially thought.

I am an annual member (rather than a seasonal member) which means that I’m able to choose most of the items in my box with the last few being surprises. Annual members also get first picks and access to add-on’s before seasonal members. This season, I only added on 2 items.

More information on that below.

For those not familiar with FabFitFun, I’ll try to explain how it all works and answer any questions you might have. If you already know the deal, then skip on ahead to check out all of the items!

What Is FabFitFun?

FabFitFun is a women’s lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. Each box is curated for the season and contains fashion, beauty, home, travel, fitness, food items, and more!

Each season, they also include a magazine explaining all of the items and how to use some of them. It’s actually one subscription box insert that I find really helpful and enteraining.

Can You Customize Your FabFitFun Box?

Yes, there are multiple ways to customize you box including the standard box choices, adding on box choices, and by shopping add-on’s and the new Boost My Box that they are testing out.

Just be aware that customization closes before boxes start to ship so you may have to wait until the next box to be able to customize.

Standard Box Choices

Each quarter, subscribers get to choose some of the items they will receive. If you become an annual subscriber, you get to customize your box even more. Seasonal members usually get to choose items from 3 categories, while annual subscribers typically get to choose from 5 categories.

Additional Box Choices

I also love that most quarters, FabFitFun allows you to add on additional choice items for much lower than the original cost. This option was available for the Fall 2020 FabFitFun box, and I choose to purchase 2 additional items (noted in the review below).

Add On’s and Boost My Box

In addition to being able to add on additional choice items, FabFitFun also opens a window of time where you can purchase add-ons for significantly lower prices than the retail cost.

Annual subscribers get access first and usually the best stuff is sold out right away. But it’s always worth checking out multiple times as people have a few days to change their minds and update their carts before they are charged.

This season I added on just 2 items.

The Boost My Box option is new since last season. It’s an option to add 1 of 3 “luxury” items to your box for a discounted rate. I didn’t choose to boost my box this season.

If you choose to become a seasonal member, an extra perk of buying an additional choice item or add-on items, is that your FabFitFun box will be shipped in the first wave, after annual subscribers.

** Keep in mind that the window to customize your items closes before boxes ship. If you sign up after the window is closed, you won’t get to choose items until the next season’s box.

How Much Does FabFitFun Cost?

FabFitFun is regularly $49.99 a quarter. Each box contains over $200.00 in items (usually well over)! You can also pay for a year (4 boxes) upfront for a total of $179.99 which saves you $20.00 over the year and also gives you additional benefits including:

  • more customization
  • access to add-ons before anyone else
  • earlier shipping

You can save $10.00 off of your first box by CLICKING HERE!

Now that we got through all of that, let’s see what’s in this season’s box!

FabFitFun Winter 2020 Review

Opened fabfitfun box with the winter 2020 insert on top

Please keep in mind that some items will vary and that you will not have the ability to choose items at this time. The window to choose items is only open for a short period of time, before boxes start shipping out.

I will, however, tell you what other items you may receive should you sign up for a subscription before the FabFitFun Winter 2020 box sells out.

Note: if the Winter box sells out, the first box will likely be a Member’s Picks Box which may or may not contain some of these items.

The box always comes with a magazine which discusses the items and other related topics, as well as information about an organization they are supporting.

It’s one of the only inserts that I actually enjoy reading. There are also discount codes in the back for some brands that FabFitFun features.

Summer & Rose Cozy Robe ($70)

Summer and Rose Cozy Robe folded on a peach background

All subscribers could choose an item from this first category. I chose the Summer & Rose Cozy Robe. The other choices were:

  • Vera Bradley Compact Organizer ($50)
  • UnHide Lil’ Marshmallow Blanket ($65)
  • BOMSHBEE Sloane Champagne Flutes – set of 4 ($51)
  • LOLI Beauty Tea Seed Elixir ($42)
  • Kate Spade New York Rise & Shine Stud Earrings – 2 pairs ($68)
  • Mobile White Advanced Teeth Whitening Kit ($90)

When FabFitFun released all the spoilers for the first choice item in the fall 2020 box, I wasn’t too excited.

I have no use for the organizer, already have a ton of skin care, heard the blanket sheds like crazy, don’t wear stud earrings, have champagne glasses, and am a former dental hygienist and have much better whitening options.

That pretty much left the robe, which I didn’t really need either, but once I had it in my hands, I fell in love.

It’s super soft and cozy and I like that it’s thicker and perfect for winter. My fiancé keeps our house freezing so I’ll likely use it year-round.

Should you decide to add an extra item from this first category, the cost would be $15 per additional item.

Lilly Pulitzer Ceramic Mugs – Set of 2 ($42)

2 blueLilly Pulitzer Ceramic Mugs on a peach background

The second category that all subscribers could pick from included these Lilly Pulitzer Mugs as well as:

  • Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet ($39)
  • Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion ($78)
  • Algenist Complete Renewal Eye Balm ($68)
  • Lucky Brand Solid Brushed Scarf ($65)
  • Impressions Vanity Company LED Vanity Mirror ($48)

This category was also a bit so-so for me, personally. I know a lot of people are really loving this season’s box. It just comes down to what you like or need.

Again, I am overloaded on skincare products right now but do love the Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion. I didn’t care for the scarf and already have a magnifying mirror that I use daily.

I wasn’t super excited for mugs because I literally don’t have space for a single mug more in my kitchen. But the more pictures I saw of these, the more I loved them.

I plan to keep them in my office until the day I can renovate the entire kitchen! They are much prettier than I initially thought.

To add additional items in this category was also $15 per item.

Laura Geller Cinnamon + Spice Eyeshadow Palette ($45)

Laura Geller Cinnamon + Spice Eyeshadow Palette opened with packaging on a peach background

The final items that ALL users could choose from, in addition to this Laura Geller Eyeshadow Palette were:

  • ILIA Beauty Limitless Lash Mascara ($28)
  • Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Pore Purifying Cleanser ($36)
  • Dr. Brandt Skincare Poredermabrasion ($58)
  • Lele Sadoughi Maroon Velvet Headband ($49)

This was another unexciting category for me – until I got the palette in my hands.

I have a ton of skincare and makeup. I have absolutely no need for the skin care, have multiple new tubes of mascara, and the headband would look silly on my small head and fine hair.

That pretty much left the palette as my best option. I subscribe to Boxycharm and they send palettes pretty much every month, but once I opened this one, I got so excited. It’s really pretty and the shades are very natural and wearable. I can’t wait to try it out.

I believe to add on items in this category was $10 each.

Muk Luks Cabin Socks ($25)

Gray Muk Luks cabin socks on a peach background

Only annual subscribers were able to choose their items in this category. The other choices, in addition to these Muk Luks Cabin socks, are:

  • Kate Spade New York Workout Socks – 2 pairs ($24)
  •  Voir Haircare Rhythm of the Rain – Hair Masque & Scalp Detox ($28)
  • TULA Skincare Rose Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm ($30)
  • Flight Mode Skincare High-Altitude Hydration Mask ($38)

Well, if you needed to stock up on skincare products, this is definitly the box for you! Unfortunately, once again, I didn’t need any of the skincare or the hair masque items here.

I have some socks similar to the Kate Spade ones and don’t love the way they look on.

However, I did get excited for this category because I have always wanted to try Muk Luks. Maybe not this particular style, but I definitely use socks/slippers like these almost daily – even in my house during the summer.

They are so comfy and cute. The inside is super soft, cozy and warm. I absolutely love them and am already planning to buy more!

I believe to add on items in this category would have been $10 each, possibly $7.

eparé Cutting Board – Set of 4 ($20)

Only annual subscribers could also choose between this set of eparé cutting boards or:

  • Beautaniq Beauty Guardian Angel Revitalising Eye Gels ($25)
  • dpHUE Apple Cider Vinegar Dry Shampoo Powder ($24) – I added this one. See the Add On’s section below for more information.

I chose the cutting boards because my full time job is that I run a food blog. I’m also a culinary arts student so I do a ton of cooking.

We go through our current stash of cutting boards pretty quickly between dishwasher runs so a few more wouldn’t hurt.

These are super thin, which makes them easy to store. Our kitchen doesn’t have much room for storage so the thin size is a huge plus!

To add on items from this category was $7 each.

Whish Lip Scrub in Vanilla Bean ($20)

Whish lip scrub on a peach background

In this sixth category FabFitFun would choose an item for all subscribers, both annual and seasonal.

In addition to the Whish Lip Scrub, subscribers could have also received:

  • Paradox Lucky Stars Blemish Patches ($18)
  • B-Low The Belt Croc Card Case ($35)

I was hoping for the Whish Lip Scrub. I’m currently using one from Milk Makeup that is stick form that I love, but it’s almost gone.

I don’t usually get too lucky in these categories where FabFitFun chooses the item, but this box is a win all around for me.

I didn’t have any use for the acne patches but my teenage son might need one here and there soon so I would have been okay with this. And, I don’t see myself using the card case unless I don’t want to carry my bag or wallet with me somewhere.

Thankfully, I got the lip scrub and because it’s in tube form (rather than a pot), I’ll definitely use it.

nOir Jewelry Ombre Leopard Scrunchies ($25)

2 noir scrunchies on a peach background

In the seventh category FabFitFun would choose an item for all subscribers, both annual and seasonal.

In addition to the hair scrunchies that was chosen for me, subscribers could also receive:

  • Daily Concepts Daily Facial Dry Brush ($20)

I really, really, really didn’t want the brush. I have had one for years and have rarely ever used it.

I was hoping for the scrunchies (a blast from my past!) and am so excited to have gotten them. I don’t think they are actually worth $25, but they are so cute and have definitely taken me back to high school!

Phase Zero Makeup Making Moves Blusher ($27)

In the final category, FabFitFun would chose an item for all subscribers.

You could have received this blush or one of the following:

  • esthetica Liquid Eyeliner ($21)
  • Londontown Get Well Nail Recovery Treatment ($20)

I was okay with any item from this category, but was hoping for the blush. And…I got it! So, I’m 3 for 3 on my wish list for these categories.

The blush is on the peachier side but not super bright. Even when I wear pinker blushes, it tends to look peachy on me so this color is perfect.

Winter 2020 Add On’s

dpHUE Apple Cider Vinegar Dry Shampoo Powder ($24)

I added this dpHUE Dry Shampoo on for just $7.00. I love this brand and have liked other items from this collection.

However, after reading some reviews, I’m not sure this is for me. I meant to log back into FabFitFun and remove it but I totally forgot.

It’s very small compared for aerosol cans and much more expensive. I haven’t tried it yet, but plan to very soon!

Baublebar Krystal Druzy Drops – Blush/Gray ($38)

I added these earrings from the Add On’s section for $14. I had a pair of really cute earrings that looked somewhat similar to these, but lost one.

I wore those earrings all the time when I went out, so I was looking for something to replace them with.

The description on the FabFitFun website AND on the package say they are blush/gray. But, when they showed up they are yellow and brownish?

I mean they are still pretty an I will wear them, but they are definitely not what I was hoping for.

FabFitFun Winter 2020 Final Thoughts

Items from the winter 2020 fabfitfun box displayed inside of the box

I wasn’t super excited for this box when I first saw the spoilers and choice items. But, once everything arrived, I was much happier. The items are all usable and really nice quality.

But, since reviews are just a matter of personal opinion, let’s talk about value of the Winter 2020 FabFitFun box.

  1. Is this seasons box worth the $45.00 that I paid for it ($49.99 for seasonal subscribers)? In my opinion, absolutely. I received $278.50 worth of items (not including add-ons). For me, what makes a box “worth it” is if I will use the large majority of the products, which I absolutely will this season.
  2. Next, does this box fit the season? Yes, absolutely. There were plenty of cooler weather items like the robe, blanket and scarf, plus tons of hydrating skincare items.
  3. Does this box hit on Fab, Fit, and Fun? My answer is usually the same. There are always plenty of “fab” and “fun” items, but the “fit” section is usually lacking. This month there were workout socks. I suppose you could also squeeze the scrunchies and dry shampoo into this category, as well.
