The Summer 2021 FabFitFun subscription box is the first time that FabFitFun is allowing annual subscribers to choose all of the items in their seasonal box. Check out my review as well as all of the items you could choose from if you sign up for your own box. It’s only $49.99 for over $300 worth of on-trend goodies!

I think it’s fair to say that FabFitFun surprised everyone when they recently announced that beginning with the summer 2021 box, annual subscribers could choose all of their items. Seasonal subscribers are still limited to only being able to choose from the first three categories.
I kind of love it, but there’s still a little part of me that all kind of loved the element of surprise. However, I get enough surprises with Boxycharm.
Annual members also get first picks and access to add-on’s before seasonal members. This season, I talked myself out of adding anything on – multiple times. The add on sale is so good, but I really didn’t need anything.
For those not familiar with FabFitFun, I’ll try to explain how it all works and answer any questions you might have. If you already know the deal, then skip on ahead to check out all of the items!
Table of Contents
What Is FabFitFun?

FabFitFun is a women’s lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. Each box is curated for the season and contains fashion, beauty, home, travel, fitness, food items, and more!
Each season, they also include a magazine explaining all of the items and how to use some of them. It’s actually one subscription box insert that I find really helpful and enteraining.
Can You Customize Your FabFitFun Box?
Yes, there are multiple ways to customize you box including the standard box choices, adding on box choices, and by shopping add-on’s, Boost My Box and Refills.
Just be aware that customization closes before boxes start to ship so you may have to wait until the next box to be able to customize.
Standard Box Choices
Each quarter, subscribers get to choose some of the items they will receive. If you become an annual subscriber, you get to customize your entire box now. Seasonal members usually get to choose items from 3 categories.
Additional Box Choices
I also love that most quarters, FabFitFun allows you to add on additional choice items for much lower than the original cost.
Add On’s and Boost My Box
In addition to being able to add on additional choice items, FabFitFun also opens a window of time where you can purchase add-ons for significantly lower prices than the retail cost.
Annual subscribers get access first and usually the best stuff is sold out right away. But it’s always worth checking out multiple times as people have a few days to change their minds and update their carts before they are charged.
The Boost My Box option is still pretty new. It’s an option to add 1 of 3 “luxury” items to your box for a discounted rate. I didn’t choose to boost my box this season.
If you choose to become a seasonal member, an extra perk of buying an additional choice item or add-on items, is that your FabFitFun box will be shipped in the first wave, after annual subscribers.
** Keep in mind that the window to customize your items closes before boxes ship. If you sign up after the window is closed, you won’t get to choose items until the next season’s box.
How Much Does FabFitFun Cost?
FabFitFun is regularly $49.99 a quarter. Each box contains over $200.00 in items (usually well over)! You can also pay for a year (4 boxes) upfront for a total of $179.99 which saves you $20.00 over the year and also gives you additional benefits including:
- complete customization
- access to add-ons before anyone else
- earlier shipping
You can save $10.00 off of your first box by CLICKING HERE!
Now that we got through all of that, let’s see what’s in this season’s box!
FabFitFun Summer 2021 Unboxing Video
Unfortunately, I probably won’t have a video up this quarter. I’m hoping to be back to making unboxing videos very soon!
FabFitFun Summer 2021 Review
Please keep in mind that some items will vary and that you will not have the ability to choose items at this time. The window to choose items is only open for a short period of time, before boxes start shipping out.
I will, however, tell you what other items you may receive should you sign up for a subscription before the FabFitFun Summer 2021 box sells out.
Note: if the summer box sells out, the first box will likely be a Member’s Picks Box (or something similar) which may or may not contain some of these items. There has also been a bit of customization available with this intro box, as well.
The box always comes with a magazine which discusses the items and other related topics, as well as information about an organization they are supporting.
It’s one of the only inserts that I actually enjoy reading. There are also discount codes in the back for some brands that FabFitFun features.
Society6 Outdoor Blanket ($60.00)

All subscribers could choose an item from this first category. I chose the Society6 Outdoor Blanket because my youngest son absolutely loves to have picnics, even just in our own backyard.
We usually use a blanket that I got in Mexico many years ago, and ants easily crawl right through it. My hope was that this blanket would be a little more bug-proof. We also live relatively close to the beach so maybe it would come in handy there, as well.
This blanket has a plastic bottom to it, so it’s not only much more bug proof, but also waterproof. I suspect that it will also be awesome for keeping sand off too. We will definitely be bringing it along on our next beach trip.
There is a note on the tag that the plastic bottom can break down from washing it and from sun exposure over time. It is recommended to store this blanket away from the sun when not in use.
I’m not a huge fan of the pattern, but like it much more in person. It’s brighter and more summery looking than I initially thought from viewing it online.
The blanket is big enough that my family of four can all fit on it with a decent amount of room around us. I will try to add more photos when we get a chance to use it outdoors. I do love that it folds up nicely.
This blanket is one of two items in this box made in China.
The other choice items from this category were:
- L*Space Tie Dye Towel ($58.00)
- Society6 Wine Chiller ($49.99)
- Virginia Wolf Multi Wear Wrap ($60.00)
- Neoprene Beach Tote in Pink/Red or Blue/Green ($80.00)
- PMD Beauty Clean ($99.00)
- Summer Fridays CC Me Serum ($64.00)
I know the towel is a repeat from past boxes – FabFitFun calls them throwbacks. The rest, I believe are new.
I like the wrap, but my common sense kicked in and reminded me that I never wear things like that. With this box I really tried to think about what I will use, versus what I am immediately drawn to.
To add an extra item from this first category, the cost would be $15 per additional item.
OUAI Detox Shampoo + Scalp Massager ($40.00)

The second category that all subscribers could pick from included this shampoo and scalp massager as well as:
- Business & Pleasure Cooler ($59.00)
- Tarte Drink of H20 Moisturizer ($39.00)
- Sonix Bluetooth Speaker ($45.00)
- Rae Dunn Guac/Salsa Bowls (with two spoons) ($40.00)
- obé2 Hip Bands +2 Month obé Membership ($47.00)
- Milly Jewelry Case ($60.00)
- Draper James Ruffle Nightie ($48.00)
This was an easy choice for me. I’ve tried a couple other Quai products and loved them, so I definitely wanted to give this shampoo a try. Plus, I keep hearing about how great scalp massagers are for hair growth.
This shampoo definitely has a noticeable scent, but I like it. I can’t put my finger on it, but it definitely smells like something I used many years ago.
As a huge dry shampoo user, I only wash my hair once or twice a week. While I really like the shampoo I am using, it takes quite a bit to get all of the dry shampoo out.
After using this Ouai shampoo, my hair was super clean. It’s definitely a clarifying shampoo. The recommendation is to use it once a week and even that may be too much for some people.
The scalp massager is firm and works great! I could still feel my scalp tingling a bit after using it. While the shampoo is made in the U.S., the massager is made in China.
I also have the Business and Pleasure Cooler and love it. It’s the perfect size for a picnic with the kids.
To add additional items in this category was also $15 per item.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo ($26.00)

The items that ALL users could choose from, in addition to this Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo were:
- Nectar Blue Light Blocking Glasses ($45.00)
- Malin+Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturizer ($50.00)
- BaubleBar Build Your Own Bracelet Kit ($50.00)
- Poolside Water Resistant Pouch ($35.00)
- AG HairRe: Coil Curl Activator ($22.00)
- Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 ($34.00)
- Corkcicle 12 oz Wine Tumbler with Silicone Straw ($35.00)
This category was another easy choice for me, but only because I am loaded up on sunscreen and have a million reusable cups already.
I don’t have curly hair, don’t need skincare and personally feel the bracelet kit looks like something more for teenagers. And, I already own the glasses.
As I mentioned above, I go through a lot of dry shampoo and was nearly out when this one arrived. I have wanted to try some Living Proof products for awhile now and was definitely happy to see this as an option.
This dry shampoo comes out dry (it’s still surprising to me that some high-end dry shampoos come out wet) and works really well. The only issue is that is also comes out white, so brunettes, like myself, will have to shake a bit more to get it out.
If I didn’t use so much dry shampoo, I would buy this. Because I go through a ton, I buy Batiste for about a third of the cost. If it were to go on sale or show up in add-ons for a huge discount, I would jump on it.
I believe to add on items in this category was $10 each.
African Botanics Gold Shimmer Oil ($65.00)

Only annual subscribers were able to choose their items in this category. The other choices, in addition to the African Botanics Gold Shimmer Oil, are:
- TF Publishing Co. Brain Teasers + Activity Book Bundle ($26.00)
- Ciaté London Watermelon Dewy Setting Spray ($22.00)
- Scentuals Vitamin C Serum ($45.00)
This category was a bit harder for me because I didn’t really want anything from it.
Once again, I don’t need skincare and I already have setting sprays that I very rarely use. I was torn between the activity books and the oil.
I ended up choosing the oil, because once again I asked myself if I’d really have the time or even the desire to do an activity book. My life is busy and with the kids home for the summer, even crazier than usual.
This is the third gold shimmer oil product that I have in my stash now. I guess I really need to start using them up this summer!
The packaging is a bit cheap-feeling for such an expensive oil. It’s only 2 ounces. The first ingredient is fractionated coconut oil which likely gives it its coconut scent. It also has gold mica in it which gives it shimmer.
I do like that it’s an oil. You can use it on your body, face and even in your hair. Most likely, I will try this on my body and in the ends of my hair on days it’s a bit drier.
I believe to add on items in this category would have been $10 each, possibly $7.
To The Market Melamine Printed Tray ($25.00)

Only annual subscribers could also choose between this lemon print tray or:
- Eparé Cutting Board Set of 4 ($19.95)
- Flight Mode High Altitude Hydration Mask ($25.00)
- Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Purifying Cleanser ($36.00)
- SOAR Selfie Ring Light ($29.99)
- Mine Tan Body Skin Moisturizing Recovery After Sun Gel ($32.95)
- Mented Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick (Peachy Keen, Blood Orange or Blacker The Berry) ($20.00)
Again, this category was a bit harder for me to choose from. I still don’t need skincare and I have the cutting boards, a ring light, and plenty of after-sun gels and lipsticks.
That pretty much only left the tray. I don’t dislike it, but I don’t see myself using it until maybe next summer. We are having a pool put in this year, but unfortunately won’t be able to actually use until next year.
This is a pretty little tray to take out snacks and drinks on, but it’s very small. It might be okay for cheese and crackers or maybe just 2-3 drinks.
I may end up using it to store sunscreens or utensils and condiments on on our outdoor table. It’s definitely going to be used outdoors somehow.
To add on items from this category was $7 each.
Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion ($78.00)

In this final category annual subscribers could choose from 1, 2 or 3 item bundles. There were a ton of choices!
In addition to the Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion, subscribers could have also receive:
- Seraphine Botanicals Fruit Butter Lip Mask, Barefoot Scientist Pedicure File, Blush Pineapple Ice Tray ($55.00)
- Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffer (Tea Blossom), Blush Pineapple Ice Tray, Barefoot Scientist Pedicure File ($46.00)
- Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick in Cookies & Cream, Barefoot Scientist Pedicure File, Aria Beauty Makeup Swabs ($55.00)
- Seraphine Botanicals Fruit Butter Lip Mask, Art & Cook Citrus Squeezer, Blush Pineapple Ice Tray ($55.00)
- Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick in Cookies & Cream, Art & Cook Citrus Squeezer, Aria Beauty Makeup Swabs ($55.00)
- Verso Botanicals Super Eye Serum ($65.00)
- Ole Henriksen PHAT GlowFacial Mask ($50.00)
- LashesMD Eyelash Conditioner ($69.95)
- SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream & Erno Laszlo Pore Cleansing Clay Mask ($76.00)
- kate spade new york Workout Socks & Beautaniq Beauty Eye Gels ($49.00)
I know I said that I don’t need any skincare, and I really don’t, but I’ve used this Murad Rapid Collage Infusion product before and absolutely loved it. Since the rest of the items didn’t thrill me and I didn’t think I’d use them all, I went with it.
I’m not sure how to explain it other than to say my skin looks so good when I use this product. Even so, I don’t think I’d ever pay $78.00 (though it’s worth every single penny!) for it so I was really happy to see it as a choice.
If they hadn’t included this throwback, I probably would have chosen the bundle with the Spongelle, pineapple ice cube tray and pedicure file. I’m not sure how much use the ice cube tray would have gotten, but it is pretty cute.
Summer 2021 Add On’s
There was literally nothing that I had to have in the add-on’s section this time around. I’m overloaded on so much that I need to use up, so I’m happy (and my bank account is happy) that I’m sitting this one out this season.
FabFitFun Summer 2021 Final Thoughts

It’s much easier to say that I am happy with my box when I was able to choose all of the items. Was I thrilled with every choice? No, but I will definitely get use out of everything.
But, since reviews are just a matter of personal opinion, let’s talk about value of the Summer 2021 FabFitFun box.
- Is this seasons box worth the $45.00 that I paid for it ($49.99 for seasonal subscribers)? In my opinion, yes. I received $294.00 worth of items that I got to choose. For me, what makes a box “worth it” is if I will use the large majority of the products. This season, that answer is a definite yes.
- Next, does this box fit the season? I would say yes, except for the Murad, which is more like an all year round item.
- Does this box hit on Fab, Fit, and Fun? My answer is usually the same. There are always plenty of “fab” and “fun” items, but the “fit” section is usually lacking. This month there were toning bands (again) and workout socks.
I’m looking forward to the summer box, as it’s usually really good.
