Anthropologie has been my favorite store since I lived at home. I’m going to date myself here, but that was at least 20 years ago – back when you could only order through the mail. I do miss their catalogs!
In my single, child-free days, I ordered clothing and some home decor on a pretty regular basis. These days, I only splurge once in awhile, but my business is picking up and I’m hoping to do a little shopping spree once a season.
For this Summer 2021 Anthropologie Haul, I made a very conscious decision to only purchase complete outfits (minus shoes and accessories). I have a terrible habit of buying a pair of shorts or a top and then realize later that I have nothing to wear with it.
The photos in this post aren’t the best. We are displaced due to a fire in our home, so I’m doing the best I can with what little space and resources I currently have.
I will update the post with images wearing the outfits as soon as I can. But for now, this haul will include images of the items, a description of how they feel, and a quick review of how they fit me.

Summer 2021 Anthropologie Haul
Annaleigh Embroidered Shorts in Ivory $98.00
These are the shorts that started it all for me this summer. I received an email from Anthropologie and these Annaleigh Embroidered Shorts were in the main photo.
I don’t usually spend nearly $100 on shorts, but these do have a ton of embroidery and beading. They are gorgeous.
My only issue with this pair of shorts is the paper bag style waist. I knew before I ordered them that I wouldn’t want to show off my waistline, so I bought a shirt that covered the waist, but still shows the details on the shorts.
I ordered my usual size and feel they fit pretty true to size. These are high-waisted shorts, however, they are longer and a bit bulky in the front.
Thanks to all the stress from the house fire, living in a hotel for weeks, and having to eat out every single day, I’ve put on a few extra pounds. I’m hoping that now that I’m working that off, these fit even better soon.
These are a great pair of shorts to wear out and look pretty, but still be casual and comfortable all at once. I personally love them.
Pilcro Shelley Washed Top In Plum And In Ivory $68.00 Each
This haul is actually 2 orders that I placed a week or two apart. I ordered this Pilcro Shelley Washed Top in plum to pair with the Annaleigh Embroidered Shorts above. The model in the photo for the top also has on the shorts.
I loved it so much that on my next order, I bought the Ivory color to pair with the Pilcro Shorts below. Once again, this is how it was paired on the Anthropologie website.
These tops have a wider neckline, so you can wear them natural or off of on shoulder a bit. The fabric around the neckline is also twisted a bit giving the short a more casual look.
The Dolman sleeves are larger and airy, but long enough to keep from being revealing and there is a tight front at the bottom center. The tie can be adjusted, as needed.
The fabric is much nicer than a regular t-shirt and the somewhat longer length is perfect if you prefer for your shirts to go a little past your waistline.
Pilcro Lara Ultra High-Rise Frayed Denim Shorts in Sage $88
I didn’t think I was actually going to be able to get these Pilcro Lara Ultra High-Rise Frayed Denim Shorts in the sage color because they said they were out of stock the first time I tried to order them
Thankfully they became available again and I ordered right away. They still took the longest to ship so I guess this color is in high demand. It is a pretty unique color!
At the moment they are available in extra small and large, but there are also 3 other colors.
I was kind of surprised that demin shorts would be sold in extra small to extra large sizes, rather than an actual measurement, but they have a good amount of stretch.
They are super high rise – I’d say it’s a pretty typical high rise and they are very comfortable. There are two functional back pockets, as well.
You can easily dress these up, if you wanted, but they are perfect for casual outings. I can see wearing these to the farmers market or a backyard barbecue.
Leonie Embroidered Shorts In Ivory $58.00
I ordered the Leonie Embroidered Shorts when I thought that I wasn’t going to be able to get the Pilcro shorts above. Originally I was going to pair it with the Ivory Pilcro top, or mix and match the 2 tops between these shorts and the Annaleigh pair.
Once the sage shorts became available, I also ordered the top below to pair with these shorts instead. I did not care for the matching top to these shorts, but you could wear them with almost any color shirt.
I love that these have a very comfortable elastic waistband and they are lined so you don’t have to worry about your underwear showing through them.
The embroidery gives these shorts a dressier vibe, yet the fit is still cool and casual.
I love these for summer!
Monika Flutter Sleeve Tee In Wine $48.00
This Monika Flutter Sleeve Tee is a pretty basic top. The flutter sleeves and the way it drapes do give it a more feminine, dressier feel.
It’s a very soft fabric and larger fit than I originally much have expected. I’m not sure why I ordered a size up, but probably should have just gone with my usual size.
The oversized fit still works on me if I tuck in the front, thankfully. I don’t like the hassle of dealing with returns.
If there is any negative, it’s the price. It’s a bit much for a t-shirt.
Pilcro Everyday Striped Shorts In Blue Motif $88.00
These Pilcro Everyday Shorts were another pair of shorts that I just had to have. I love the mixed pattern of the stripes and checkers.
These are also high rise with elastic along the back, however they don’t fit me quite as well as I was hoping. Again, that may change as I continue to lose the extra weight and get back into my normal routine.
Regardless, the fabric is very thick and bulky. You can kind of see this in the photo on the website where the model is sitting.
They are very well made and feel like they will last a long time. I’m hopeful the fit will be a little better soon, because I really want to keep them!
I think these are perfect for summer gatherings and can also be dressed up, if needed.
I did not purchase a separate top for these. I think the Pilcro top in ivory would work, and I have a few other tops already that I can wear with these.
Sabia Flounced Tunic In Neutral Motif $148.00 – on sale for $74.96
This Sabia Flounced Tunic Dress isn’t exactly a summer item, but I did order it at the same time and wore it to brunch for Mother’s Day.
This dress is no longer available, nor is it still on the Anthropologie website.
They had it paired with a cream colored cardigan sweater, so that is how I wore it, as well.
Honestly, the dress is kind of frumpy and bag lady-ish, but as soon as you add a layer, it looks so good!
I probably won’t wear it again until fall, but I can definitely see this being something I wear often. It’s dressy, yet comfy and casual at the same time.
Reusable Tote Bag – $100 (?) – Free with purchase
This tote was a free gift with purchase. I’m not sure why it even had a listed price, as you couldn’t purchase it separate and it definitely is not worth $100.
It’s pretty and seasonal, but super thin. I’ll likely use it at the farmer’s market or to carry work notebooks and little things to do when hauling the kids back and forth to all of their activities.
I have a million totes and reusable bags. I live in Delaware, which recently banned plastic shopping bags. It seems they have back tracked on that a bit and now the bigger stores give you these thick, reusable plastic bags.
I also have a ton of cloth bags. My full time job is a recipe creator, food photographer and food blogger. Very often brands will send me gift packages and they always, and I mean always, have a reusable tote.
Final Thoughts
I really do love everything that I purchased for summer from Anthropologie.
I always have issues with fit, regardless where I shop. Shopping online makes it even more challenging. I’m planning to go in-store for my next haul.
I expect that I’ll do another haul in fall. Hopefully I’ll have my camera equipment and more space for better images.
Or…it might be a summer part 2 haul, because they keep adding new, pretty little things all the time.
