Shein is more popular than ever at the moment, but do the budget-friendly clothes actually last? Do they look like what you see online and is it worth it to take a chance on this somewhat controversial brand? In this Shein fall haul and review, I’ll show you the clothes and accessories that I purchased as well as an honest opinion on each one and on Shein overall.

After a fairly successful First Shein Haul a couple of months ago, I decided to give them another try.
Now, not every item that I purchase in the summer was a winner. I ended up donating the orange shorts and the tops with the buttons, since the buttons gaped open on me. But, with that said I absolutely love a few of the items, like the floral skirt, maxi dress, the earrings and the belts.
This time around I wanted to get some more laying pieces. I chose a bunch of t-shirts and tanks, a few cardigans, a scarf and quite a few jewelry pieces. And, because I loved the skirt from my first haul so much, I got a very similar one but in a more fall-friendly color.
Below is a quick run down of what Shein is all about. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the Fall Shein Haul heading to see the goods.
Table of Contents
What Is Shein?
Shein is a low-cost, Chinese-based clothing and home goods company. They cater to women, men and kids, and also have a huge selection of what they refer to as Curvy + Plus
They have all types of clothing as well as lingerie, sleepwear, swimsuits, accessories and shoes.
The selection is massive. See the next section with tips on how to find exactly what you are looking for at Shein.
Shein has other divisions as well, including home and beauty. I have not shopped these and therefore have no experience with them.
Tips For How To Order From Shein
There are thousands upon thousands of options when ordering from Shein. It can be really overwhelming at first to know how to find exactly what you are looking for and then how to decide what size and color to order.
Here are a few tips to save you time and money:
- Read The Reviews: because Shein offers points for reviews and even more points for including a photo, there are tons of reviews on most items. You can get an idea as to how the actual item looks and fits and the actual color of it as well, since that tends to vary at times.
- Use The Size Chart: each item has its own size chart. Be sure to use that to check the measurements. For one item you might be a medium, but for another you may need to order an extra large. You really can not go by your “usual” size when ordering from Shein.
- Suggestions: type in what item you’re looking for, then click on an item that looks somewhat like what you want. At the bottom of that items page will be a TON of similar items. Shein’s suggestions are amazingly on target.
- Discounts: Shein pretty much always has a discount. The best discount is usually displayed at the top of their website so you don’t have to scour the web for codes to try. If you use Ibotta and have the browser extension, you can also get 5% cash back.
Is Shein A Scam?
I don’t think that Shein can be defined as a “scam,” but please feel free to comment below if you do. I’m still learning, but think ordering from Shein is basically a “you get what you pay for” kind of concept. And, sometimes you get lucky.
Is Shein unethical? Possibly. Because Shein’s products are made in China, you really don’t know first-hand how things work.
But, with that said, there are stories about Shein stealing designs and making them at a fraction of the price and utilizing child-labor.
Again, if you know first-hand of more issues, please comment below.
Shein Fall Haul
I usually try to buy complete outfits when I shop so I don’t end up with items where I don’t have anything to wear with them, but I still have a lot I needed tops for especially.
I’ve been hesitant to try pants from Shein because I have a difficult time with fit and prefer to try them on. Plus, I haven’t see too many that I really like.
For reference I am usually a size medium or large in shirts from most brands. However, I often order large for a looser fit, especially across the chest area.
Shein Women’s Clothing
Ditsy Floral Frill A-line Skirt ($14.00 before discounts)
This skirt is very similar to the one that I purchased in my First Shein Haul. I love this darker color for fall, whereas the other one is lighter and prettier for spring or summer.
Both skirts seem to be of the same quality. The elastic waist seems to be well stitched with plenty of room to give. This skirt has just two tiers, the other one has three.
The stitching at the end of the skirt is a single stitch, but there are no loose strings.
According to the size chart, I ordered a size medium. It fits okay, but I think a large would have probably been more comfortable.
This skirt isn’t lined and I can definitely feel where the tier is stitched on the inside. It isn’t too annoying and you can’t really see through the fabric. It will be cute with a light shirt and denim jacket or cardigan this fall.
SHEIN Waffle Knit Cami Top ($5.99 – $7.00 each before discounts)
I ordered three of these tops because I thought they would be great for. layering under cardigans in the fall, winter and spring or just on their own in the summer.
Each shirt came nicely folded with tissue paper in between the fold and an extra button. I don’t think I’ve gotten extra buttons with any other Shein purchase before.
I ordered the colors beige, dusty pink and redwood all in size large:
As you can see the color labeled as beige is actually white. This is how it appears on the Shein website, as well, so I wasn’t surprised. This is exactly what I was hoping for.
I believe this is the color labeled as redwood. It’s more of a light brown color.
This looks nothing like the color labeled as dusty pink on Shein’s website. In fact, there are two colors labeled as redwood and this looks like the other one. I do like it, so I don’t care about the color difference, but just wanted to be sure to mention that in case anyone wants to order this color.
These fit perfectly. They aren’t super low cut and the buttons are not functional so there is no gaping open like in a couple of the shirts that I got in my first Shein haul.
Shein Ghost And Slogan Graphic Tee ($8.00 before discounts)
How cute is this shirt? I got it to wear on Halloween night when I take my kids out trick-or-treating.
This shirt seems to be of decent quality. It’s a thicker material with double stitching around the sleeves and end of the shirt. The ghost decal is thick and doesn’t fold or bend easily so I’m not sure how that will hold up long term, but overall I’m happy with this shirt.
The size chart for this one made it appear that this particular shirt runs really small, and the comments also mentioned ordering up for a looser fit. I ordered an extra large.
It’s still tight across the chest for me and more form fitting overall. I have a hard time with finding shirts that fit loose across the chest. It seems that women’s t-shirts are cut in a way to make them more form-fitting and it’s just not what I prefer.
There is not a lot of stretch at all so I don’t think it will be one of those shirts that loosen up with wear and washing.
I’ll definitely wear it, but only with a cardigan or jacket.
Shein Floral And Slogan Graphic Tee ($8.00 before discounts)
This is another t-shirt that I picked out for layering with cardigans this fall. I love the rust brown color for a more autumn-feel, but this top does come in a variety of colors.
It seems to be the same exact quality as the ghost t-shirt above and the sizing is also the same. Again, I ordered an extra large.
The fit is pretty much the same as the ghost t-shirt, although it does feel slightly looser across the chest.
Shein Slogan Graphic Short Sleeve Tee ($9.00 before discounts)
I really must had been in a lovey, kind, happy mood when I placed this ordered!
This is another well-made shirt and the thickest, heaviest material of them all. It’s double stitched, as well and comes in 3 colors. Obviously, this is the black one.
I ordered a size large and it’s just about the same size as the shirts that I ordered in extra-large so Shein’s size charts and comments really do help a ton with getting items of the same size, even when they are labeled differently.
This fits just like the ghost t-shirt. It’s tighter across the chest and a bit more fitted throughout.
Shein Heart & Slogan Graphic Tee ($9.00 before discounts)
More love and kindness! And yes, another t-shirt for layering.
This only came in one color. After reading a lot of the comments, I sized way up on this one and got an XXL. It’s only a half of an inch or so wider than the other shirts.
This shirt definitely fits looser than the rest. It’s a little longer too so it’s a good one for tucking in, if needed. I just wish I liked the colors better.
Shein Floral & Slogan Graphic Tee ($9.00 before discounts)
I love this shirt. It’s so great for layering under just about any color cardigan, but will also be cute with shorts and sandals in the summer too.
It only comes in white. I ordered this in size large and it’s the same quality and sizing as the rest.
Even though this is a size large, it fits pretty much the same as the extra large items that I ordered. It’s tighter than I’d like, but I’ll probably still wear it often.
Shein Drop Shoulder Lantern Sleeve Cardigan ($21.00 before discounts)
I ordered this sweater because it looked really cute unbuttoned with a white shirt underneath and jeans, but still had a casual feel to it. It would also look cozy over a dress.
The reviews on this one are also really good!
It’s really soft and cozy feeling, though a little itchy. I think I’m going to be finding ways to wear this one all through winter. I do worry it may shed a bit though.
This sweater comes in a bunch of colors. This is the one labeled as light gray and I ordered a size large, which is the largest size offered for this top. I would say it’s true to size, maybe a tad small.
Shein Space Dye Drop Shoulder Cardigan ($19.00 before discounts)
This is the softest cardigan ever! It only comes in the one color and looks just like the photos.
I ordered a large which is the largest size it comes in and it fits over-sized and cozy.
The sleeves are a baggy with fitted cuffs. There are no pockets or buttons.
This is one of the best items that I’ve gotten from Shein so far, though I really wish it had pockets.
Shein Women’s Accessories
EMERY ROSE Ginkgo Leaf Print Scarf ($3.50 before discounts)
This is such a cute scarf for fall. I love the pop of teal in it.
It’s very thin, lightweight and sheer, but folds and drapes really well. It comes in a couple of different color variations.
I’m honestly not sure how well it will hold up. If it gets snagged, it’s likely going to be ruined. The edges are single stitched.
I’m still happy with my purchase. It could end up lasting years, who really knows.
Shein Simple Hair Hoop ($2.50 before discounts)
I don’t really wear head bands, but I’m trying to do different things with my hair on occasion and have always liked this style.
You can pull the bands apart or keep them together depending on what look you’re going for.
This head band seems to be well made. It’s a bit tight, but I think it will loosen up the more it’s stretched.
Shein Geo Drop Earrings ($2.50 before discounts)
I was a little hesitant to buy these, but I am so glad that I did! They look a lot prettier in person that online.
Some reviews said they are just like Kendra Scott. I wouldn’t go that far, but for the price, these are amazing.
The color that I purchased is gold, but there are a few other options, as well.
EMERY ROSE Geometric Drop Earrings ($2.50 before discount)
These are so pretty! I love the color combination and the fact that these are on the smaller side. A lot of earrings on Shein are huge.
Now I just need to remember to wear earrings more often!
Shein Stone Drop Earrings ($2.00 before discount)
I love these earrings, though the clasp style isn’t my favorite.
The “stones” are actually plastic, but you can’t really tell unless you look at them close up.
I really like the other colors offered, as well and may buy more. The green is really pretty. I already have a pair of similar earrings in turquoise.
Faux Gem Charm Necklace ($1.00 before discount)
I purchased this particular color necklace because it seemed to be the one people were loving the most in the reviews.
However, it’s not my favorite. While all the stones in these necklaces are plastic, this one looks the most fake to me.
Still for $1.00, I’m not complaining.
Shein Round & Turquoise Charm Layered Necklace ($2.50 before discount)
Unlike the necklace above this one, the stone in this pendant looks more real. The gold disk is a bit flimsy, but that’s not really noticeable when it’s on.
This is really pretty and an amazing price.
Shein Crystal Pendant Necklace ($2.00 before discount)
This is my favorite of all of the “stone” necklaces that I bought. It’s not easy to tell in the photos, but it looks more real and it has a lit more sparkle than the others.
For $1.00, I have no complaints. This color is labeled as green.
Geometric Charm Necklace ($1.00 before discount)
I don’t love the white stones as much as the others. They look a bit more yellowish to me, in person.
I may or may not wear or even keep these.
Geometric Charm Necklace ($1.00 before discount)
I feel the same way about the oval white stone as the one above. It looks better in the photos, but you can tell it’s plastic and it is more yellow-ish.
I may or may not keep this one either.
How To Earn Shein Points
Shein offers an incentive program through a points system. Points are earned in a variety of ways and can then be credited towards future purchases.
Points are earned for confirming delivery of your order, reviewing your items, adding images of your items and if someone finds your review helpful.
This is a major reason why you will see so many product reviews on Shein.
It’s a great way for Shein to get feedback on their products and drive more sales. It’s a win for the buyer, so long as they are happy with the products that they are receiving from Shein.
Final Thoughts
My total was initially $139.30, but I saved 15% with a discount code (-$20.60) and used Shein points from my first haul (-$4.51) to bring it to $112.38. Then, I also got 5% cash back with IBOTTA (-$5.62) for a grand total: $106.76 which averages out to be just $5.08 per item.
I feel like the clothing is pretty on par to Old Navy when it comes to quality. Some items may not last very long, but there will be a few unicorns in the bunch.
I’m really impressed with the quality of the t-shirts and the sweaters. When I gave this a little more thought, I remembered that some high-end fashion brands have their designs made in China, then massively inflate the value.
The same manufacturers could be making some of Shein’s clothing, which may be why the quality isn’t as bad as one might think.
I do feel that the clothing that costs $15.00 and up is typically better quality, but the t-shirts and tank tops in this haul are pretty decent.
It really can be hit or miss, but the sizing charts and reviews help a ton!
