I’m excited that my September Premium Boxycharm box is here already!
Because my August Boxycharm box came so late, I feel like this one came pretty quickly, even though it was a more “normal” shipping time.
In addition to the choice items, there are actually quite a few items that I would be happy to have gotten this month, and quite a few I wouldn’t have loved as much.
I’ll explain exactly how BoxyCharm works below, as well as share a complete review of the products that I did end up getting in my BoxyCharm Premium box. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the September 2021 BoxyCharm Premium Review heading.
Table of Contents
What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of full size skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
Each month there is a theme. This month it’s “BTS”
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with its own cost (more on that in a minute). You can unsubscribe from the base box after that first month and just keep the Premium, if you want.
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, two of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

September 2021 Boxycharm Premium Review
Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00)
In addition to this palette, the first category for choices included:
- SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Rhubarb + Rose – Creamy Lip & Cheek Palette
- LORAC PRO Loose Setting Powder (4 shades to choose from)
- BAREMINERALS Mineralist Hyrda-Smoothing Lipstick (3 shades to choose from)
- LORAC LUX Diamond Eye Gloss Trio (2 sets to choose from)
I chose the Fenty eyeshadow because I keep hearing great things about Fenty and this is a product I will actually use, unlike the facial spray that came in my August 2021 Boxycharm.
These are all really pretty shades and perfect for fall. I love the dark purple-ish color the most. I may or may not use the sparkly black one, but maybe. I’ve been playing around with colors a bit more lately.
This product is made in the USA (yay!).
Tarte Sea Glowtion Skin Perfector ($32.00)
The products for the second choice were:
- LAURA MERCIER Soothing Eye Makeup Remover
- LAURA MERCIER Balancing Foaming Cleanser
- LAURA MERCIER Mattifying Oil-Free Moisturizer
I actually didn’t want the Tarte Sea Glowtion Skin Protector. It seems too similar to the Vesca primer that I got last month and the First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Primer that I’m currently using.
I love both of those products, but I just don’t need another. I actually have several other primers I’ve yet to even test. Boxy loves to send me all the primers.
I would have preferred the Laura Mercier makeup remover, but it was out of stock pretty quickly once choice opened.
I will probably pass this one along to someone else, so long as they don’t mind the dinged up packaging.
This product is made in the USA (yay!).
Herbivore Botanicals Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask ($48.00)
Of all of the items that I got in this box, I am by far the most excited about receiving something from Herbivore Botanticals.
I don’t remember ever trying anything from this brand, but I’ve always been intrigued by it.
This mask is supposed to clarify and smooth the skin. It states that tingling is normal and that those with sensitive skin should leave it on for about half the time as someone without sensitive skin.
I’m planning to test this out several times, then write a complete review. Once that is posted, I will link it here.
This product is made in the USA (yay!).
Beauty Bakerie Milk & Honey Highlighting Palette ($38.00)
I have never tried anything from Beauty Bakerie before. I had 2 of the same eyeshadow palettes, but gave them away because the shades were similar to other palettes I already had opened.
I was excited to see this at first because I thought it was a different eyeshadow palette. It’s actually a highlighter palette.
I have no idea how to use any of these shades as highlighter except for the one called Spoiler Alert. I’m thinking that maybe the other shades aren’t for people with very light skin like me.
I doubt I’ll keep this product simply because I don’t think 3 out of 4 shades will work and I have plenty of highlighters similar to the one shade that will.
This product is made in China.
Complex Culture Beauty Sonic T-Bar Facial Massager ($58.00)
So, I have mixed feelings about this product.
I’m actually happy to have gotten it because I am overloaded on most beauty and skincare products and getting a “tool” is something new and different.
It’s a facial massager than uses sonic vibrations. It is supposed to temporarily smooth and sculpt skin.
With that said, I have not done any research yet on if tools like this actually help, or if they are more of a gimmick. I do like that their packaging says that the results are temporary, rather than trying to make consumers believe it’s a miracle treatment.
It’s also a “made in China” product and I’ve have several other beauty products like this break fairly quickly or simply not work at all. This makes me hesitant to keep it.
As of right now, I’m holding onto it, but will decide whether or not I’ll try it after I see more reviews.
This product is made in China.
Hey Honey Trick and Treat Lip Balm in Berry Balm ($23.00)
I love that this lip balm is a darker, sheer shade of plum. It’s the perfect way to wear darker shades without it being too harsh.
I’ve been having a terrible time with my lips lately. Once they get chapped and start peeling, I can’t leave them alone which only exacerbates the situation.
If I keep lip balms on my lips constantly, I tend to leave them alone. I’m going to keep this one in my car because that tends to be the place I reapply the most.
There is nothing on the packaging about where this product is made, which is a little odd. I can’t find the information on their website either and a quick Google search only states that their offices are located in Florida.
Final Thoughts
The retail value of my particular box is $224.00.
This is a pretty good box for me. I’m really excited about the mask from Herbivore, as well as the Fenty eyeshadow and lip balm.
I will likely pass along the highlighter palette and skin primer. The facial massager is up in the air still.
I’m definitely at a point where I don’t need much. It’s more about getting to try new things, but I also don’t want to hoard a bunch of things.
I would say this box is another win for me!
October 2021 Boxycharm Premium Choice Options
The FIRST choice items for the October 2021 Boxycharm Premium box are:
- LILLY LASHES Level Up Lash Enhancing Serum
- 111SKIN Antioxidant Energising Essence
The SECOND choice items for the October 2021 Boxycharm Premium box are:
- ROEN BEAUTY vowBROW Pencil
- LYS BEAUTY No Limits Matte Bronzer
After having a lot more choices in each category the past several months, the choices for October are disappointing.
In the first category, I chose the 111Skin. I don’t use either of these types of products, but I have been wanting to add 111Skin to my product reviews as they are insanely high priced and I want to see if they are actually worth it.
For the second choice, I picked the eyebrow pencil. I rarely use these, but the one that I do have from Winky Lux doesn’t work for me at all.
