This is my fourth or fifth Boxycharm Base Box now. It seems to be that every other month is really good, while the other months are just so-so.
Of course this is just a matter of opinion and I know that while this box was just so-so for me, someone else might love every item. I totally get that you can’t win them all and I’m totally fine with the fact that I may be giving away or donating some items each month.
Below, I will explain exactly how BoxyCharm works below, as well as share my thoughts on the items that I received. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the September 2020 BoxyCharm Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

September 2020 Boxycharm Review
Farmacy Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry ($45.00)
This is the item that I chose this month. I have used other products from Farmacy and really love them.
This packaging and the jar itself says that this was made exclusively for Boxycharm. However, this product is available on the Farmacy website, so I have no idea what the difference, if any, is.
This is supposed to brighten the under eye area and reduce the appearance of dark circles. I do have dark circles and nothing has ever worked, but I’ll try anything once!
Alamar Cosmetics Spanglish Pressed Pigment Palette ($28.00)
I have seen quite a few people say that they love this brand, but it’s just not for me.
A month or two ago I received an Alamar Cosmetics lipgloss. It was glittery and reminded me of something I’d wear in junior high.
This palette is just a little too out there for me. The colors just don’t look as if they’d work with my skin tone (and my age!).
I’m likely going to include this in a giveaway soon!
Hank & Henry Lip Love Luxe Lipstick ($18.00)
This lipstick is another miss for me.
The packaging is pretty. Heck, even the glitter is pretty. On it’s own.
But, the lipstick itself is a light tan, brown color. The glitter on the outside is purple. So, yes…this is a brown lipstick with purple glitter. However, the glitter is supposed to melt away as you apply it.
I’ll include it in a giveaway – hopefully someone else will love it!
Laura Geller Lashboss Bold Mascara ($24.00)
Black mascara is super unexciting and most of the time I am equally unimpressed.
I am a long time lover of L’Oreal’s Carbon Black mascara. However, I will usually try any mascara samples that I get.
What I am loving about this packaging is that the before and after pictures on the back are the most realistic that I’ve ever seen!
Sure it’s a boring item, but at least it’s usable.
Billion Dollar Beauty Charcoal Beauty Sponge ($15.00)
Equally as boring as black mascara is a makeup sponge.
I use one for applying powder – that’s about it. It’s very soft, but I’m not sure what else to say. It’s a makeup sponge.
Final Thoughts
This box wasn’t very exciting to me. And I believe that the value is lower than any other Boxycharm box I’ve received yet.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $130.00 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm. Even though it’s not a great box for me, it’s a great value for $25 – especially if you would use most or all of these items.
This month, I’ll use 3 items and will be giving away the other 2.
How To Subscribe To Boxycharm
