My October 2020 Allure Beauty Box showed up November 14, so it’s still arriving super late and I expect it will until my subscription expires.
I feel super behind, but I’m still going to do my review because I want to, even if it feels a little silly at this point.
Allure changed their subscription recently. This box is the first one with the new price and more full-size products.
What Is Allure’s Beauty Box?
Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription box. They typically send deluxe samples and full size items in each box.
Each box will now contain at least 6 items (starting with the October 2020 box), with at least 3 of those being full size. The value of the box will be over $100.
Items can include skin care, make up, perfume, and hair care products. They also include a small pamphlet with information about each product and why it was chosen.
Can You Customize Your Allure Box?
I have not seen any offers to customize any of the items in the monthly boxes.
How Much Does The Allure Beauty Box Cost?
The Allure Beauty Box is now $23 a month.
Monthly subscriptions usually come with a free gift.
You can also purchase the subscription through Amazon. It does not seem as if you’ll get the free gifts this way, or other potential subscriber perks, but I have heard the boxes ship much faster through Amazon – IF you order early in the month.
October 2020 Allure Beauty Box Review
Each month the Allure Beauty Box comes with a booklet that talks about all of the items and why they were chosen.
The Nue Co. Topical C – (Full Size $70.00)
This is a vitamin C powder that you mix into your serums, moisturizer or even water before applying it to your skin.
I believe that by leaving it in powder form in a dark bottle, it will help keep the vitamin C more stable and effective.
This is an awesome item to have received and I can’t wait to try it.
Verso Super Eye Serum with Retinol 8 – (Full Size $65.00)
I love that this eye cream has retinol in it. I’ve just recently started using retinols and have been so impressed with how well they work for me.
I haven’t used this brand before and am excited to give it a try.
Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer in Irene – (Full Size $16.00)
This color is so pretty! I wanted to put it on immediately but I can’t wear nail polish to culinary school so I have to wait a few days.
It’s a very natural pinky-nude color.
I will say though, that for full size, this bottle is pretty small!
Dr. Jart Ceramide Cream – (Deluxe Sample)
This is a moisturizer that is supposed to really lock in the moisture. It sounds like a great product to use in the winter when my skin starts to really get dry.
Sigma Liquid Lipstick in Venom – (Deluxe Sample)
I don’t usually wear red lipstick, but this is really pretty and looks to have a little pink in it. I might try it, but am currently undecided.
La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm Intense Repiar Moisturizing Cream – (Deluxe Sample)
This is actually the largest sample I’ve ever seen in this brand. Usually there isn’t enough to really be able to tell how it works for you.
This is yet another moisturizer that is ideal for very dry skin. I’m going to be loaded up on products to get my skin through this winter just glowing!
I’m actually planning to try this on my body rather than my face. The packaging does say that you can use it on either.
Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads – ($3.60)
More hydration! I’m going to give these a try before applying makeup one day soon.
I’m hoping the extra hydration will help keep my makeup from caking up under my eyes.
Bonus Item: Rusk Native Fig Replenishing Shampoo and Conditioner (Sample Size)
This is just a little added bonus (although there are still 2 more unexpected items that showed up in my box below!)
I used to buy Rusk Shampoo and Conditioner many years ago. I love the scents, even if the formula wasn’t ideal for me.
I’m looking forward to trying this as I haven’t used Rusk in a long time!
Random Extra Items??
I had two other items in my box that are not in my booklet this month. I’m not sure why or if anyone else got these. I looked at several other reviews and haven’t seen these in anyone else’s box.
Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask (Deluxe Sample)
I’ve sampled this years ago and LOVED it, so I am more than thrilled this randomly showed up in my box.
It’s a plumping mask that also brightens and it worked really well for me when I used it in the past.
The full size price is really high, but if I had the money, I’d definitely splurge on this!
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder (Deluxe Sample)
This is 1/3rd of the full size.
I think I actually have another one of these in my stash, but I do use powder daily, so it’s a super useful item to have randomly added to my box.
Again, I’m not sure why I got these 2 extra items, but they are some of the best in the box!
Final Thoughts
Allure hasn’t been blowing me away lately. I don’t know most of the brands. Every once in a while there is a product that I end up loving and would have never thought to try on my own.
This month I like the products, but am unfamiliar with a lot of them. For the new $23/month fee, I feel it should be more comparable to Boxycharm which is $25 a month and they send 5 full size products. I will say they also include unfamiliar-to-me brands quite often.
I was contemplating canceling, but my fiancĂ© signed up for a year so we’re going to keep it going into the spring.
How To Subscribe
If this review has you ready to join Allure too, you can head over to the Allure Beauty Box website or sign up for a subscription through Amazon.com.
If you subscribe through the Allure website, you will get a free gift. Should you choose to go through Amazon, be sure to sign up early in the month so that you don’t get your boxes in the middle of the next month like I do!
