I received my November 2021 Boxycharm Premium box pretty early again this month.
Once again, the choice items were not anything that I was super excited about. I was really hoping the remaining items would be useful and fun, but this box is a dud for me.
The one item that I did want came crushed. More on that below.
I’ll explain exactly how Boxycharm works below, as well as share a complete review of the products that I did end up getting in my Boxycharm Premium box. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the November 2021 BoxyCharm Premium Review heading.
Table of Contents
What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of full size skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
Each month there is a theme. This month it’s “Invite Only”
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with its own cost (more on that in a minute). You can unsubscribe from the base box after that first month and just keep the Premium, if you want.
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $25.00 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $25.00/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $39.99/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, two of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscribers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.
November 2021 Boxycharm Premium Review
KVD Beauty Lock-It Powder Foundation ($37.00)
In addition to this powder foundation, the first category for choice included:
I chose the compact because I really don’t need more eyeshadow and didn’t have a pressed powder type compact. I’ve also heard really good things about KVD Beauty lately.
Unfortunately, mine arrived completely shattered. Thankfully it came in a box and didn’t get on the other products too much.
I reached out to Boxycharm and had a response within 10-15 minutes on a Sunday! Shortly after that, I had a notice that my product replacement had been ordered. I’ve heard terrible things about Boxycharm customer service, but had a great experience myself so far.
This product is made in Italy.
Sutra Beauty Rejuvenating Hair Serum ($45.00, though the box actually says “MSRP $70” on it)
The additional choice product for the second choice was:
- NUDESKIN BY NUDESTIX Lemon-Aid Detox & Glow Micro-Peel
Either of these options would have been okay for me. I ended up choosing the hair serum because I love trying new hair products, as not many work great for me so I’m always looking for that unicorn in the bunch.
I haven’t heard about this brand before, but the product itself is intended to be used after heat styling. While my hair always looks better after heat styling, it can still be a little flyaway. This is supposed to eliminate the frizz.
I’m excited to try it as soon as my previous product runs out.
This product is made in China, so I’m sure the price is greatly inflated.
Peach & Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist ($29.00)
I know a lot of people absolutely love Peach & Lily’s glass skin line, but I simply do not ever use facial mists. This one is supposed to hydrate and glow, and I’m sure it works as intended die to the brands reputation.
I’ve gotten a few others recently and have gotten rid of them, as well.
This product is made in Korea.
Riddle Oil Original Roll On ($50.00)
This is a fragrance oil that is supposed to work with your own body’s chemistry to create a scent that is unique to you.
It’s a tiny bottle at an insane price tag. The ingredients are simply listed as parfum. On their website they mention that it’s made with simple ingredients amber and musk.
I’m not sure why 8mL is $50.
It does have a scent before you apply it and the musk really comes through. When I applied to my wrists, it smelled exactly the same and it’s way too strong for me. It does last a long time though!
It’s definitely not for me, but the reviews are really good. Guess my own body chemistry just doesn’t work to my liking.
This product is made in the USA.
Rodial Blush Drops in Frosted Pink ($50.00)
I tend to not really like pink shades like this for blush, but the frosted appearance of this one might just work.
I dropped a little bit on the back of my hand and rubbed it in. It have more of a blush and highlighter appearance to it. It’s actually very shimmery with just a light pink hue.
I think this would be prettier in the summer for me, so I think I’m going to hold onto it until then.
This product is made in Taiwan which again is disappointed for the price.
Girlactic Rose Oil Petal Gloss ($20.00)
This is very pretty packaging, but I just don’t need or want another lip gloss.
I love the Tarte plumping gloss that I got last month and have a huge stash of others to try still.
Because this brand seems more like something for teenagers and gives me drop-shipping vibes, I’m going to pass it along to someone else who may enjoy it more.
This product is made in Taiwan as well.
Final Thoughts
The retail value of my particular box is $231.00, though I believe a couple of these products are insanely inflated.
This is a pretty disappointing box for me personally. Between the damaged compact and the fact I’m not particularly interested in most of these items, it’s a bit of a let down.
I’m definitely at a point where I don’t need much. It’s more about getting to try new things, but I also don’t want to hoard a bunch of products either.
Because of that, I did cancel the base box.
December 2021 Boxycharm Premium Choice Options
The FIRST choice items for the December 2021 Boxycharm Premium box are:
- BITE BEAUTY Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation
- ELEMIS Superfood Matcha Eye Dew
The SECOND choice items for the November 2021 Boxycharm Premium box are:
- KENIA ONTIVEROS BEAUTY Glow and Go Kit
- BYROE Fig Renewal Oil
These choices are much better options that November’s in my opinion. I ended up choosing the Elemis Superfood Matcha Eye Dew and the Byroe Fig Renewal Oil, although I’d be happy to try any of these products.
