This month, I was a little on the fence about what to expect in my Boxycharm Premium box.
Usually the choice items make me feel like regardless of the remaining items, I’ll be happy with the box overall. However, I found the choice items to be very unexciting. You could choose from an eyeshadow palette or a loose powder.
The loose powder was out of stock in my shade and I had never heard of the eyeshadow brand before and the reviews were mixed.
For the second month in a row, I personally feel that the base box options are better. However, I am still happy with the items that I received in my premium box.
I’ll explain exactly how BoxyCharm works below, as well as share a complete review of my BoxyCharm Premium box. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the November 2020 BoxyCharm Premium Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

November 2020 Boxycharm Premium Review
Illamasqua Unveiled Artistry Palette ($50.00)
This palette was my choice item this month, but only because the Smashbox Loose Powder was not available in the lighter shade.
I have never heard of this brand and the first thing that I noticed on the packaging is that it’s made in the PRC although the brand is either from the U.K. or France.
The packaging is very nice and somewhat heavy, and the shades are beautiful. Because they look so pretty in the packaging and most are very easy-to-wear colors, I’m excited to try this palette out. I’m hoping the formula is equally as impressive.
Grown Alchemist Detox Night Cream ($125.00)
I love this brand and I love getting night creams, especially because I have so many day creams in my stash to get through still.
This cream contains peptides, hyaluronic acid, omega fatty acids, and echinacea to detox and regenerate the skin to help it appear more youthful and radiant.
I will definitely be giving this a try, but I will say that the price is way too high.
This product was actually part of Boxycharm’s most recent pop-up sale for $9 for a pack of TWO. Being able to buy a product for $4.50 versus $125 really does make you wonder…
Cosmedix Skincare Brush Set ($25.00)
While I normally don’t get excited for brushes in my subscription boxes these days, this set is kind of unique.
These brushes are meant to apply skincare products like cleansers, creams, exfoliators, and masks.
The round brush is made with really fine, tightly packed bristles and is super soft. This one is ideal for using with your cleansers.
The other brush isn’t so much a brush, but a silicone applicator. One side is smooth and the other is textured. The instructions say to use the textured side to apply charcoal masks, and the smooth side to apply hydrating masks. I’m not sure what difference that makes though.
I’m excited to try both of these brushes.
Dose of Colors Block Party Single Eyeshadow in Caffeine Queen ($20.00)
While getting yet another eyeshadow in the same box as an eyeshadow palette might be a little overkill, this shade is gorgeous!
It’s a shimmery brown but looks to have some silvery undertones to it. There were several colors subscribers could have gotten and I’m glad to have gotten this one. I think it will work great with my skin tone.
Realher Lip Liner Duo ($25.00)
This package contains 2 lip liners, one is a deep red color and the other is a deep nude.
I’ve just recently started using lip liners more often to over-line my lips a bit. I’m starting to notice as I am getting older my top lip is disappearing more and there wasn’t much there to begin with!
The deep red is a dark red that will work with a lot of darker tones perfect for fall. The deep nude is more of peach-tan shade.
I will definitely use both of these.
Ilia Beauty Color Block High Impact Lipstick in Rosette ($28.00)
I love this brand and everything that I’ve ever tried from them. I really like that they are more of a natural beauty-focused company and put out products that aren’t too crazy.
This is a really pretty rose pink color, but slightly darker. It’s actually a pretty neutral color that would likely work with most skin tones and during any season.
Final Thoughts
The retail value of my particular box is $273.00 which is amazing for a $35.00. Obviously, this is only the case if you are going to actually use most or all the items.
While I wasn’t thrilled about the 2 choice items and one being out-of-stock, I do love everything that I received this month and can’t want to try it all.
The choice items for December is once again, lackluster. The choice items for December are both eyeshadow palettes from the brand Viseart:
- Viseart – Neutral Mattes 01 12 Pan Eyeshadow Palette
- Viseart – Neutral Mattes Milieu 14 12 Pan Eyeshadow Palette
The palettes are very similar, but the Milieu palette has a bright pink and a blue color. I chose the first palette because it seems to be more wearable for me, should I choose to keep it.
