For my November 2020 Birchbox, I opted to choose a sample and let the rest be a surprise rather than choose one of this month’s curated boxes.
I actually prefer to choose a sample and let the rest be a surprise. I was really happy to see one of my favorite products as one of the sample choices this month.
Below you can learn more about Birchbox and see all of the items that I received. If you already know how Birchbox works, go ahead and skip on down to the November 2020 Birchbox Review heading.
Table of Contents
What Is Birchbox?
Birchbox is a monthly beauty sample box subscription. They send samples (and occasionally full size items) of skin care, makeup, hair care, and small life style products.
Can You Customize Your Birchbox?
You can customize your Birchbox to some extent.
Most months you can either chose 1 sample with the remaining samples being a surprise, or choose a curated box in which you will know all of the samples, or exchange your box for a full size product or points that can be used to purchase items in their online store.
Curated boxes and full size items tend to go pretty fast, but they are now saying that they will always have 2 curated boxes and more of them available.
You can also opt out of all of these options and have your entire box be a surprise.
Birchbox sends out tons of different box variations each month. What you get, if you sign up and receive a September 2020 Birchbox, may vary greatly from what is shown in this review.
How Much Does Birchbox Cost?
There are 3 options when signing up for a Birchbox subscription:
- Monthly Plan: $15 a month and you can cancel anytime.
- 6 Month Plan: $14 a month and you are committing to 6 months, but billed monthly.
- 12 Month Plan: $13 a month and you are committing to 12 months, but billed monthly.
You can see all of the details and any free gifts or discounts with purchase from the sign up screen on the Birchbox website. They usually have some pretty good incentives for signing up!

November 2020 Birchbox Review
Birchbox always comes with a little card that has each product listed on it, as well as the full size value of the item.
Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum
I received a full size bottle of this serum from Boxycharm and LOVE it! It’s almost gone and really expensive, so I jumped at the chance to get a little more in my box this month.
I use it at night before bed. It’s very moisturizing and my skin feels so much softer when I use it.
I would highly recommend this if you can swing the higher cost ($85.00 for a full size bottle). I am planning to test some less expensive retinols soon too!
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray
Again, I was so happy to see this item in my box. I have been using a spray from Hythe and it’s just not as effective as the This Works Body Cocoon (a body lotion with the same scent as this spray).
I can’t wait to use this. I expect it to have the same benefits as the lotion when it comes to helping with relaxation and sleep.
Arrow Detangling Texture and Protect Spray
Arrow is a Birchbox brand. I’ve only sampled their lip balm and some skincare products, but haven’t loved anything.
My hair is a pain to deal with and a lot of products don’t work at all. I may not even try this, but rather pass it along to someone who may see some results from it.
Keep an eye out for it to possibly show up in a giveaway soon!
Generation Skin Brightening Kakadu Plum Eye Patches
I like eye patches, but don’t love them. I usually use them after taking off my makeup, but I’ve seen more people using them before applying makeup. I think this might work out better for me too!
This one is supposed to “banish” dark circles as well as even skin tone and energize. Dark circles are impossible to deal with, but I’ll try anything once.
Kiss and Smink The Everything in Tulum
This is a tinted balm that you can use on your cheeks, eyelids, and lips.
This is a very sheer, shimmery pink. When I run the stick on the back of my hand, I can see pink. When I rub it in, the pink really fades.
I’m going to give it a try because it is so pretty. Hopefully it’s buildable.
Birchbox Jade Roller
I believe Birchbox sent everyone a jade roller this month. I’ve had one before but it was so cheap and flimsy, I never used it.
This one actually seems much better. I’ve tried it once and it’s nice and cool and feels good.
I think this was a nice addition to the box.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I pretty much loved this box and all of the items in it. Of course this would happen on my last box.
While I enjoy trying new products, I am overloaded on samples at the moment and have decided not to renew my Birchbox subscription at this time.
I prefer boxes where you get full size items like BoxyCharm which is only $12 more and you get 5 full size products, and FabFitFun where with a yearly subscription, you can pick 5 of the items plus add on more for a really low price.
Birchbox is still a great way to try new things though, and is still a fun option for a lot people.
