While looking for an activewear subscription, I came across a review for Ellie. Even without the discount, the cost per outfit is much lower than other similar subscriptions, so I decided to give it a try.
I have gotten three outfits now, as well as other accessories and equipment, and have been so impressed!
I use my Ellie subscription as my reward for working out 2-3 times a week (currently). If I don’t meet my goals, no cute new outfit. It’s a win, win because I want to wear these outfits but only let myself wear them to workout in.
What Is Ellie?
Let’s first talk about what Ellie actually is. It’s a monthly activewear subscription with the option to just get the activewear or activewear and accessories and equipment.
You get to choose your outfit from at least 10-12 different options, with some being repeats from prior months.
There is also the ability shop previous collections (it does cost a bit more and only includes the clothing) and must have essentials that are all marked down significantly.
How Does Ellie Work?
Ellie chooses and outfit for you each month, but you have the ability to go in and change it or skip the month all together. You just need to log in between the 1st and the 4th of the month to do so.
I have not received any reminder emails to do this. So far, I’ve just remembered to check on the 1st of the month because I’m so excited to see what’s new, but it might be a good idea to set a reminder on your calendar.
How Much Does An Ellie Subscription Cost?
There are 3 different subscription options:
- The 2-Item plan is $39.95 a month and includes a top and bottoms.
- The 3-Item plan is $44.95 a month and includes a top, bottoms, and a sports bra.
- The 5-Item plan is $49.95 a month and includes a top, bottoms, a sports bra, and 2 pieces of accessories or equipment (like dry towels, a sports bag, workout bands etc.)
Remember, your first outfit is 25% off, regardless of which subscription you choose.
For me, it made sense to sign up for the 5-Item plan because I knew I wanted the 3 pieces of clothing. It’s only $5.00 more for the 2 additional items.
This is considerably less than other fitness wear subscriptions, so the question becomes, “How’s the quality?”
May 2020 Ellie Subscription Review
As I mentioned before, I pay for the 5-Item plan that includes a top, bottoms, and a sports bra, as well as 2 additional items.
I chose the Calypso Set this month which includes a pair of blue cropped leggings, a really cool high-impact sports bra, and a lightweight racerback tank top in light blue.
The two additional items this month are a waist trainer and a resistance band.
I typically wear a size medium for tops and bottoms, and a large for sports bras, but I’ve been sizing up to all size larges after reading some reviews on the website. I’ve been losing weight pretty steadily since February and may try a size medium for the bottoms next month.
The clothing pieces are all from the brand Marika. The second set that I got from Ellie was also by Marika and it’s amazing, so I knew this set would be, as well.
Marika Carter Capri Leggings
The leggings are so soft, thick and not see-through except for a thin, mesh strip on the side of each leg. They are very comfortable.
The waist is high-rise which I love for workout leggings, and there is a side pocket for your phone or gym card etc.
Marika Alicia Sports Bra
This is the first time my set has come with a high-impact sports bra, so I was excited to see that being that I’m larger on top and have been running a couple of times a week.
The sports bra is the same color as the leggings, but the back has a fun, super cute crisscross design with 4 straps, two being a lighter brighter blue.
Marika Clara Singlet
The tops have all been very light weight, but high-quality and super soft. This one is no different. I love it.
It’s semi-sheer and the back is partially mesh. Ellie’s outfits often have really unique details.
It is worth mentioning that some sets come with jackets or sweatshirts.
Additional Items
As far as the addiitional items, I’m excited for both.
I know that waist trainers are more for a temporary “fix’ of sorts, but ya know, I’m just at this point where every little bit helps.
The resistance band will be great for travel or to keep in my office rather than in our backroom dungeon in the basement where I workout most of the time.
Final Thoughts
I absolutely love this outfit. In my honest opinion, the quality is much better than what I’ve gotten in the one other fitness subscription that I’ve tried (it was several years back, though) and the outfit choices are really cute and functional.
I plan to continue my subscription, although I’m sure I’ll skip from time to time if I don’t love a set from the monthly collection, or if I fall off my workout routine (I’ve been doing so good!).
