My March 2021 Boxycharm Base Box showed up as expected this month. It arrived just 2 days after my March 2021 Premium box.
It seems as if shipping and mail delivery are slowly returning to normal – at least for me.
When I looked at all of the items that could possibly be in both boxes this month, I wasn’t too excited for either one. I do try to hold out getting too upset until my box arrives though, because you just never know.
Below is all about how Boxycharm works, but if you are already familiar and just want to see the products, skip on down to the March 2021 Boxycharm Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.
March 2021 Boxycharm Unboxing Video
Life is still a bit “abnormal” over here. I am really hoping to start making videos again very soon!
March 2021 Boxycharm Review
Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisture Cream ($39.00)
This banana souffle moisture cream from Glow Recipe was my choice item this month. I already have the Murad exfoliating cleanser and while I like it, I don’t love it. The third choice item was mascara and I have more than enough mascara.
I have loved everything I’ve tried so far from Glow Recipe, so this was an easy choice for me, regardless.
This is a lightweight moisturizer good for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It’s made with banana, magnesium, cica and turmeric.
It does go on super lightweight and has a light banana scent to it. I will probably wait until summer before using this cream, just because my skin is super dry from winter still. It does leave my skin looking fresh and gives it a nice glow!
This product is made in the USA.
111Skin Celestial Black Diamond Contour Gel ($140.00)
I’ve gotten a few items from 111Skin, but don’t remember any of them being all that great, especially for the price. However, this Celestial Black Diamond Contour Gel is definitely intriguing.
It’s supposed to be used around the eyes and mouth in areas of deep lines and wrinkles. The brand was developed by a renowned plastic surgeon, so maybe it might work?
While I do not have deep lines or wrinkles yet, I am a big believer in using products like this to help prevent them, or slow the process.
I will definitely give this a try.
Another upsetting fact about this brand, is that it’s made in China. For $140.00, I do not expect a product made in China, where it’s well-known how cheaply made things are.
Maven Beauty Maven Rose Water Setting Spray ($22.00)
I wasn’t too excited to see this Maven Rose Water Setting Spray in my box, but mostly because I rarely use setting spray.
Maven Beauty is a new brand to me though the packaging doesn’t really say much about the brand as a whole.
The setting spray is made with rose water and a bunch of other ingredients that are hard to read. I did make out aloe as one ingredient though.
It’s supposed to help your makeup stay on for up to 16 hours.
I probably won’t get around to using this anytime soon and may end up giving it away or including it in a giveaway.
This product is made in the USA.
Lavish Wet Brush Cleaning System ($15.00)
I wasn’t too excited to see this Wet Brush Cleaning System in my box, but I think I will actually get plenty of use out of it.
Inside of the case is a solid “soap” and there is a textured silicone pad on the inside of the lid. You wet your brush, rub it into the soap to create a lather and then scrub it on the silicone pad before rinsing.
I’m terrible about cleaning my brushes and think that this might actually help me get into a better routine about it.
It’s also made in China.
KAB Lip Oil in Rum Punch ($20.00)
KAB Cosmetics is made by Kim, Ariana and Brielle from one of the housewife shows. I don’t watch it, so I’m not super familiar with them.
This brand isn’t a favorite of mine. I have gotten a lip gloss once and while it’s okay, I feel like it’s not the best quality. I’d also like to know whether or not this brand is simply one that anyone can pay to have their name put on (I forgot what that process is called).
I can’t make out most of the ingredients which I find odd for an oil. I think paraffinum liquidum may be a liquid paraffin? And there’s vitamin E as well.
The tube and applicator are huge, which seems to be this brands signature packaging. The oil is tinted pink.
I’m tempted to try it, just to see how it looks and feels on the lips, but am still undecided. I may end up giving it away or including it in a giveaway.
Again, this product is made in China.
Final Thoughts
This box is pretty good for me.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $236.00 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm, but I do feel that some prices are inflated, especially the 111Skin. Regardless, the value is there with Boxycharm if you’re going to use most of the items.
This month, I’m most excited to have gotten the Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisture Cream, the 111Skin contour gel and the brush cleansing set.
Overall, the value is absolutely there for me this month, especially considering all of this was just $25.00!
The April 2021 Boxycharm Base Box Choice Items are:
- Touch in Sol – Pretty Filter Icy Sherbet Primer
- StudioMakeup – Tinted Moisturizer
- Earth Harbor – Aurora Superfood Luminance Ampoule
I’m definitely most interested in the Earth Harbor Aurora Superfood Luminance Ampoule. I have Marina from them and it makes my skin feel so good, although does irritate my eyes if it gets too close.
