The June 2021 Boxycharm base box is here!
The base box items are a mix of a few well known or high-end brands with a lot of lesser known, lower value items making up the bulk of the potential items you could receive.
I was really hoping to receive the Skin Inc. My Daily Dose of Glow product even though it was one of the NINE choice items this month and I didn’t choose it. I’ve used it before and absolutely loved it.
I opted to choose an item that was new to me and one that I’ve also been interested in trying instead.
I would be happy with the Lovescript body wash since body washes and lotions aren’t as common in these boxes, as well as the GlamGlow cleanser, Touch In Sol palette, NARS lip pencil(also a choice item) and/or the Sunday Riley treatment.
Spoiler alert: I didn’t get any of the items I was hoping for. And, to make matters worse, I pretty much got all items I had no interest in. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t interested in much.
I’ve been surprised many times before, so I’ll try to hold off too much judgement until I try the products. Of course that’s only if I decide that I want to keep them.
Below is all about how Boxycharm works, but if you are already familiar and just want to see the products, skip on down to the June 2021 Boxycharm Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute). You can cancel the base box subscription after the first month of getting both boxes.
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, two of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

Sorry! I’m still not able to do unboxing videos, unfortunately.
June 2021 Boxycharm Review
Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil ($48.00)
I chose this Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil this month because I used the Honey Potion Mask several years ago and really liked it.
I also just really like this brand and their whole story.
However, I’m not sure how I feel about these “Made Exclusively For Boxycharm” labeled products. Are they formulated differently than the same products found on the Farmacy website?
I compared the product on Farmacy’s website to this one. The ingredient list is the same, the amount of product is the same and the packaging, with the exception of the Boxycharm disclaimer on both the box and bottle, is the same.
So, I’m not sure why they put it at all.
As for the product, you can use it on your skin or in your hair. It’s meant to be used in areas that need intense hydration.
This is a thicker oil with a very light honey scent. It is definitely very hydrating.
I like to use products like this at night as a more intense hydrating treatment. I find them far too oily for daytime or under makeup.
I’m very happy with my choice!
This product is made in the U.S.A.
OPV Beauty Spotlight Eyeshadow Palette ($40.00)
I am overloaded on eyeshadow palettes, thanks to Boxycharm. It doesn’t mean I won’t keep a high-quality, unique one, or one filled with colors that I love like the Iconic London Sunset to Sunrise palette – I’ve been using that one every day!
This OPV Beauty Spotlight Eyeshadow Palette isn’t exactly what I would consider high-quality, nor a well-known brand, at least in the United States.
While the colors are pretty, most are colors that I already have, or likely won’t use. I am intrigued by the bluish-green hues though. I’ll have to look through my current stash and see if I have anything similar to play around with.
Reviews are mixed. Some say it’s well-pigmented with no fall out, while others state it’s not well pigmented at all.
Rather than waste this palette that I know I won’t use and don’t need, I’ve opted to not swatch it myself.
I will pass this along or include it in a giveaway, instead.
They were a little sneaky when labeling where this product was made. With all of the brand information it clearly states “created and formulated in United Kingdom. However, on the other side in much small writing, it states it is made in H.K., which I assume is Hong Kong.
True + Luscious Flowerdose Lip and Eye Serum ($34.00)
I probably wouldn’t choose this item for myself, but since I got it, I decided to try it.
This True + Luscious Flowerdose Lip and Eye Serum is supposed to be plumping.
I have always had thinner lips and as I get older, my top lip seems to be disappearing more and more. The idea of a plumper sounded good, so I tried this right away.
First off, I do not like the packaging. Sure, it’s cute that it looks like a syringe, but it’s not the easiest to dispense.
There is a lock that needs to be turned, then you press up the plunger. I tried to push it slowly, but it didn’t move easily and when it finally budged some of the product shot straight up into the air.
After that, it came running out of the tip. Anytime I have used it since has been a similar issue.
I put it on my lips and outer corners of my eyes, as instructed.
I don’t think it’s meant to be plumping in the enlarging sense of the word. I think it’s actually just a hydrating serum to smooth out fine lines.
It feels fine on and I’ll use for a bit to see if it has any longer term results, but I don’t feel it’s a must-have product.
This product is made in U.S.A.
Luna Magic Beauty Va-Va Pink Lash Primer ($25.00)
This product is a major dud for me. I don’t know the brand at all, and I don’t use or feel I should even need, a lash primer.
Apparently this brand was featured on Shark Tank and did receive an offer. I’ve never watched the show, but I think it’s a big deal to get an offer?
This Va-Va Pink Lash Primer was created for the Boxycharm collaboration, but is for sale on the Luna Magic website, as well. And not that it matters, but some of this brands products are sold through Walmart.
Since I am not planning to keep this product and don’t want to open it and have to trash it, I looked up some information online just to confirm I don’t need it.
It’s actually pink in color which is supposed to make black mascara stand out more. It’s also supposed to add volume and length to your favorite mascara.
Here’s the thing – my favorite mascara is my favorite mascara because it works so well. I shouldn’t need an extra product.
This product is made in Italy.
Vitamasques Nourish Flower Nectar Biodegradable Mask and Glow Juicy Berries Biodegradable Mask ($18.00)
I’ve said it many times before, but I am not a fan of sheet masks. I have such a collection and probably need to start using them up, but they are just so annoying to wear.
I do like that these Vitamasques sheet masks are biodegradable though.
The Nourish mask is supposed to nourish and repair skin, while the Glow mask contains berries and is supposed to brighten and improve uneven skin tone.
I’m really not sure if I’m going to keep these or not. If I do try them, I will update this section as to how they worked.
These masks are made in Korea.
Final Thoughts
I plan to definitely keep and use only two products from this box – the Farmacy Honey Grail face oil and the True + Luscious Flowerdose.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $165.00 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm. Since I only spent $25 for the entire box and plan to keep 2 items worth $82.00, I suppose it was worth it.
Did I need either of these items? No, but they won’t go to waste.
Next, I don’t think this box really felt like the theme this month, which was “Dare to Dazzle” with the exception of the eyeshadow palette. I feel like everything should be bright and sparkly, although I’m personally glad it wasn’t. It was definitely more of a flower-themed box.
I’ve been on the fence about canceling the base box. I’m definitely starting to lean more and more towards canceling and trying something else.
If you have any suggestions, let me know in the comments. I’m planning to continue through July, at least.
Hopefully it’s a much better box than my last couple!
July 2021 Boxycharm Base Box Choice Items
There are four choices for the July Boxycharm base box.
The July 2021 Boxycharm Base Box Choice Items are:
- Farmacy Whipped Greens Oil-Free Foaming Cleanser
- Illamasqua Unveiled Artistry Palette (already sold out!)
- Alamar Cosmetics Brighten & Bronze Complexion Trio
- Ofra Cosmetics Good To Go Mini Mix Palette
I quickly ruled out 3 of the items. I’ve already received both the Illamasqua palette and the Ofra Pallete. I don’t really use bronzer and already have a few so that was easy to eliminate, as well.
Thankfully, I can always use facial cleanser and I love the brand Farmacy.
