My Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm Review
What Is It?
Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm is a makeup removing cleanser that also smooths and hydrates the skin. It is safe for sensitive skin and eyes.
The balm is a pretty peach color and semi-firm. It’s easy to scoop out with the provided spatula. The scent is light and fresh with only a slight tropical scent.
There are 4 main ingredients in this balm:
- Papaya Enzymes: removes dead skin cells to soften and smooth the skin.
- Papaya Seed Oil: rich in fatty acids that help keep the skin hydrated.
- Blueberry Extract: rich in antioxidants which fight free radical damage and brighten the skin.
- Natural Oils and Waxes: easily melts makeup while nourishing the skin.
Who Is It For?
This cleansing balm is suitable for all skin types. It is especially effective at melting stubborn makeup without drying the skin.
How I Used It
According to the directions on the package, this balm should be applied to dry skin and massaged in circular motions for up to 1 minute. To rinse it off, the directions say to simply splash lukewarm water on the face, but I prefer to use a wash cloth.
I only use a cleansing balm on the days that I wear eye makeup. I find most other types of cleansers don’t do as good of a job getting mascara and eyeliner completely off and I don’t like to double cleanse, as it just feels like too much for my skin.
If you do like to do a double cleanse, Glow Recipe recommends following up with their Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser after using the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm.
This balm works exceptionally well. My mascara and eyeliners literally melt right off into the oily balm.
The only recommendation that I have would be to use a facial wash cloth to gently remove your eye makeup, as splashing with lukewarm water didn’t rinse it completely off for me.
Full disclosure: the mascara that I used during this test period was Milk Makeup Kush Waterproof Mascara. The eyeliner is from Eyeko.
My Results
According to the Glow Recipe website, studies show the following results after 2 weeks of use:
- 100% agreed their skin had a healthy and glowing radiance after use.
- 100% agreed the cleansing balm removed their long-wear and stubborn makeup.
- 100% agreed their makeup dissolved effortlessly.
- 100% agreed the cleansing balm doesn’t leave their skin feeling stripped or tight.
- 100% agreed the cleansing balm didn’t sting their eyes.
- 97% agreed their skin felt softer and smoother.
I completely agree that the balm removed my makeup without much effort at all. Even waterproof mascara came off with ease and without any eye irritation at all.
I also agree that my skin didn’t feel stripped or tight, at all. It is definitely smooth, hydrated and healthy looking after cleansing.
Overall, I am super happy with the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm and would highly recommend it as both a makeup remover and skin cleanser.
How Much Does It Cost?
Glow Recipe’s products fall more in the mid-range for skin care. All of their individual products are priced under $50.
The Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleanser is sold in one large 3.38 fl. oz jar. The retail price is $32.00.
How long this product will last will very greatly on if you decide to use it twice a day every day or just to remove makeup. For me, I use it about 3 times a week and expect it will last a few months.
