Time for another Boxycharm Premium review!
I have been on the fence with Boxycharm for a few months now. I canceled my base box awhile back, and have been tempted to do the same with the premium box.
In true Boxycharm fashion, they have sucked me back in this month. I’m pretty happy with this box overall!
I’ll explain exactly how Boxycharm works below, as well as share a complete review of the products that I did end up getting in my Boxycharm Premium box. If you already know the deal, skip on down to the February 2022 BoxyCharm Premium Review heading.
Table of Contents
What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of full size skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
Each month there is a theme. This month it’s “Be My Glam-entine.”
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with its own cost (more on that in a minute). You can unsubscribe from the base box after that first month and just keep the Premium, if you want.
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $25.00 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $25.00/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $39.99/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, two of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscribers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.
February 2022 Boxycharm Premium Review
Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Eyeshadow Palette ($67.00)
In addition to this eyeshadow, the first category for choices also included:
- Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil ($39.00)
I chose the eyeshadow palette with the initial feeling it would be easiest to pass along to someone else. But, I love it.
I’m not really sure the colors are for me, but I’m sure going to try. There are mattes, metallics, a glitter, and. multi-reflective shadows all in one gorgeous palette.
I swatched some of the shimmery shades and the most are amazing. The blues didn’t swatch as nicely, but with primer they will probably be just fine.
This product is made in Italy .
Aceology Rose Quartz Gua Sha Facial Massager ($45.00)
The additional choice product for the second choice was:
Since starting my own crystal shop, I have been obsessed with all things crystal, of course. However, I already have a gua sha massager that I love.
I chose this to giveaway to a follower of my crystal shop’s TikTok account. The mark up on this thing is INSANE. I could buy this at wholesale for $5.00. Standard markup is double what you pay in most cases – so the value is more like $10.00
This product is made in China.
Uoma Beauty Badass MF Lipliner ($16.00)
I’ve never heard of Uoma Beauty. It’s just a personal opinion, but when I subscribe to a “premium” box I expect premium brands, not new brands or unheard of brands.
And while this lipliner could be the most amazing lip liner that I ever use, I just think it’s better suited for the base box for now. I also don’t care for the name and all the other stuff written all over the box. It just comes off a little tacky.
The color is nude. I usually wear muted pink shades, but may give this a try. I’m still undecided.
This product is made in the Czech Republic.
Moonlit Makeup Primed For The Night ($18.00)
I really needed eyeshadow primer, so I was happy to see this one in my box this month. I haven’t even been wearing eyeshadow because the two primers that I have don’t work all the great (both came in past Boxycharm boxes).
I love the packaging and the fact it comes with a wand for application. Hopefully this one will work better than the last few I’ve gotten. I’ll be giving it a try soon with the Huda palette!
This product is made in China.
Vike Beauty Makeup Melt ($24.00)
I saw this product a while back, somewhere on social media and it worked so good! I’m very happy that I got it!
While I don’t wear a ton of makeup, I do look forward to trying this to better remove eye makeup.
This product is made in the USA.
Christophe Robin Instant Volumising Leave-In Mist ($39.00)
So, I have a Christophe Robin Leave-in Cream that doesn’t do much for my hair at all. I’m not sure that I’m all that excited for this spray, even if it is supposed to help with volume.
I’ll probably give it a try. I just hope I can find someone who will want it, if it doesn’t work out for me.
I also just got the Hydrating Leave-In Mist in my Allure Beauty Box so it seems this brand is hitting the subscription boxes hard at the moment.
The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t like when a $39.00 products looks like it would fit right in with the $6.00 products at the drugstore. But that’s just a little nit-picky thing.
** Update: this product was absolutely horrible. I might as well just have sprayed water into my hair. I used this along with the leave in hydrating mist from this brand and my hair has never looked worse. It was super flat and looked as if the products sucked every bit of moisture out of my hair. I dumped them both out immediately.
This product is made in the UK.
Final Thoughts
The retail value of my particular box is $209.00. However, I do not believe the value of the gua sha massager to be $45.00. It’s the typical ridiculously marked-up pricing on Chinese-made products that drives me crazy with Boxycharm and some of these brands.
With all that said, I am happy with this month’s box and will be hanging on this beauty subscription for at least another month.
