My February 2021 Boxycharm Base Box showed up a little earlier than last month.
For the second month in a row, my base box showed up first. Although, I received tracking information for my Premium box first. The mail service and FedEx are so weird lately.
When I looked at all the items that could possible be in both boxes, I wasn’t too excited for either box this month, but I know better than to judge before I actually get the box.
Below is all about how Boxycharm works, but if you are already familiar and just want to see the products, skip on down to the February 2021 Boxycharm Review heading.
What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.
February 2021 Boxycharm Unboxing Video
There won’t be a video this month due to some crazy life happenings. I am hoping to have unboxing videos back up starting in March.
February 2021 Boxycharm Review
Brow Bar By Reema Bombshell Brow Kit in Dark ($40.00)
I am not one for doing much with my brows, but of all the choice items this month, I thought I might use this one.
This brow kit includes a mini brow pencil, 2 brow powders, a highlighter, a bronze, a set of tweezers and a spoolie/brush combo.
I probably won’t use the bronzer or highlighter. Of the 2 brow powders, one might work for me. I’m hoping the tweezers are decent. One can always use a good pair of tweezers!
The only things that really bother me about this brand is the packaging. Fingerprints get all over it. And, it’s made in China, which is always questionable to me, especially for the price.
Tula Skincare So Poreless Deep Exfoliating Blackhead Scrub ($32.00)
I’ve seen quite a few people raving about Tula brand skincare products. I’ve only ever used a facial cleanser and it was just okay, so I’m not super excited for this scrub.
However, I do use facial scrubs once or twice a week, so I will still probably keep this item and give it a try.
I’m currently working my way through a huge tube of Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser, so once that’s gone, I’ll open this one to try and update this section.
At least this brand is made in the USA.
Trestique Eye Duo Good Vibes Mascara + Eye Pencil ($44.00)
Trestique is another brand that shows up quite often in subscription boxes. I have a few items from this brand but haven’t used them yet.
To be honest, I was ready to put this mascara and eye liner duo in the pile of items to giveaway or donate. But, once I opened it, I realized that this isn’t just another tube of black mascara.
The mascara is huge but it also has a built-in lash curler which is pretty interesting. It’s about half the size of a traditional lash curler, which is odd.
The eyeliner pencil appears to be softer. It is a wind-up type pencil, so no sharpener needed. I actually prefer these as traditional eyeliner pencils can often be too hard.
I probably won’t get to either of these products anytime soon, but will try to update this section once I do.
This product is made in Italy.
Glamierre Pink Luxe Glitter Eye Brush Collection ($29.95)
I have never heard of the brand Glamierre, however this brush set is super cute!
The brush handles are clear and filled with liquid and pink glitter hearts. These brushes are taking me back to my middle school days when our pens had the same type of glittery liquid in them.
I don’t need these brushes right now, but I am tempted to keep them anyway. I *might* pass them along to my teenage niece, instead. We will see!
Saint Luxe Beauty Limited Edition Liner Duo ($40.00)
I’m not too familiar with the brand Saint Luxe, but it is a black-owned beauty company.
I am usually pretty happy to get lip liners. I never used to wear them, but as I am getting older, my lips are definitely thinning out and they were already pretty thin to begin with!
The two shades are Love Letter, which appears to be a darker pink and Secret Admirer which is more brownish.
I can definitely use Love Letter, but I don’t ever wear brown lip color, so I don’t think I’ll be using Secret Admirer.
Again, this product is made in China.
Final Thoughts
This box is just okay.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $176.00 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm. I always say that the value is there with Boxycharm if you’re going to use most of the items. However, I also feel like the items that are made in China are greatly inflated in value.
This month, I’m not super excited for any of the items, but I’m also not upset about it either. I will use some of the brow kit and eventually get around to trying the facial scrub, mascara, eye liner and one of the lip liners.
Overall, I could have done without this entire box, but as I always say, you can’t win them all.
There are 3 items that subscribers can choose from for their March 2021 box. They are:
- Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser
- Too Faced Damn Girl! Mascara
- Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream
The Murad exfoliator is the one that I am currently using. It’s okay, but kind of runny and thin. I prefer a thicker exfoliator. I also feel that I need to use it more often than others.
I don’t need yet another mascara, so I opted for the Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream. I’ve really liked other products from this brand, so I’m hoping to love this one, as well.
