I look forward to my seasonal FabFitFun subscription box every season, but especially in the summer. Summer lifestyle subscription boxes are almost always my favorite. Anything for the beach and warmer weather, shimmery, moisturizing, and bold is perfection to me.
I recently upgraded to become an annual member and especially love that I’m now able to choose most of the items in my box. No more “hoping” that the items that I want show up. Plus you get first picks and access to add-on’s before seasonal members.
More information on that below!
For those not familiar with FabFitFun, I’ll try to explain how it all works and answer any questions you might have. If you already know the deal, then skip on ahead to check out all of the items!
What is FabFitFun?
FabFitFun is a women’s lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. Each box is curated for the season and contains fashion, beauty, home, travel, fitness, food items, and more!
Each season, they also include a magazine explaining all of the items and how to use some of them. It’s actually one subscription box insert that I find really helpful and enteraining.
Can I Customize My FabFitFun Summer 2020 Box?
Yes, there are multiple ways to customize you box including the standard box choices, adding on box choices, and by shopping add-on’s and the new Boost My Box that they are testing out. Just be aware that customization closes before boxes start to ship so you may have to wait until the next box to be able to customize.
Standard Box Choices
Each quarter, subscribers get to choose some of the items they will receive. If you become an annual subscriber, you get to customize your box even more. Seasonal members usually get to choose items from 3 categories, while annual subscribers typically get to choose from 5 categories.
Additional Box Choices
I also love that most quarters, FabFitFun allows you to add on additional choice items for much lower than the original cost. This option was available for the Summer 2020 FabFitFun box, and I choose to purchase 2 additional items (noted in the review below).
Add-On’s and Boost My Box
In addition to being able to add on additional choice items, FabFitFun also opens a window of time where you can purchase add-ons for significantly lower prices than the retail cost.
Annual subscribers get access first and usually the best stuff is sold out right away. But it’s always worth checking out multiple times as people have a few days to change their minds and update their carts before they are charged.
This season I added on 1 item as shown in the review below.
The Boost My Box option is new this season and being tested out. It’s an option to add 1 of 3 “luxury” items to your box for a discounted rate. I was able to get one of these before they sold out and it’s shown in the review below.
If you choose to become a seasonal member, an extra perk of buying an additional choice item or add-on items, is that your FabFitFun Summer 2020 box will be shipped in the first wave, after annual subscribers.
** Keep in mind that the window to customize your items closes before boxes ship. If you sign up after the window is closed, you won’t get to choose items until the next season’s box.
How Much Does FabFitFun Cost?
FabFitFun is regularly $49.99 a quarter. Each box contains over $200.00 in items (usually well over)! You can also pay for a year (4 boxes) upfront for a total of $179.99 which saves you $20.00 over the year and also gives you additional benefits including:
- more customization
- access to Add-ons before anyone else
- earlier shipping
You can save $10.00 off of your first box by CLICKING HERE!
Now that we got through all of that, let’s see what’s in this season’s box!
FabFitFun Summer 2020 Review
Please keep in mind that some items will vary and that you will not have the ability to choose items at this time. The window to choose items is only open for a short period of time, before boxes start shipping out.
I will, however, tell you what other items you may receive should you sign up for a subscription before the FabFitFun Summer 2020 box sells out.
Note: it appears this box is sold out and the first box will be the Summer Editor’s Box which may or may not contain some of these items.
The box always comes with a magazine which discusses the items and other related topics, as well as information about an organization they are supporting. This season it’s Special Olympics.
It’s one of the only inserts that I actually enjoy reading. There are also discount codes in the back for some brands that FabFitFun features.
Do Not Age with Dr. Brandt Triple Peptide Eye Cream ($82)
This eye cream is from the first category of choices that all subscribers could pick from. The other options included:
- Draper James Straw Bag with Floral Scarf ($75)
- L*SPACE Tie Dye Towel ($58)
- Pottery Barn Mason Ceramic Diffuser in Solstice ($59)
- Yumi Kim Wireless Charging Pad ($35)
- LashesMD Eyelash Conditioner ($70)
I chose the eye cream simply because I’m almost completely out and needed one. I read all of the reviews and while they are always a little mixed, most people were happy with this one, or at least how hydrating it is, which is usually my biggest concern.
I debated adding the bag to use at the beach or pool or the diffuser because of how pretty it is, but talked myself out of both.
Should you decide to add an extra item from this first category, the cost would be $15 per additional item.
Business & Pleasure Co. Cooler Bag ($59)
This was the second item that all subscribers could have chosen. The other options are:
- Michael Kors Bedford Travel Passport Wallet ($78)
- Hydropeptide Moisture Reset Face Oil ($120)
- Isaac Mizrahi Blue and White Kimono ($59)
- R+Co Television Perfect Hair Shampoo and Conditioner ($64)
Usually I would pick the face oil, no questions asked, but I stocked up on so many during the last season’s add-on’s sale that I have enough for a least another season or two.
I chose the cooler because my youngest son loves to go on picnics, even if it’s just to our own backyard. It’s really cute, bright and summery and the perfect size for us. It will get plenty of use.
I also ended up adding on the kimono. I’ve been obsessed with this blue and white color combo for awhile now and thought it would be a great bathing suit cover up – even if the only swimming we get to do this year is in a blow up pool in our backyard – ha!
To add additional items in this category was also $15 per item.
COOLA Mineral Face Organic Matte Finish Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 ($50)
The final items that ALL users could choose are below. Some of these are items from past boxes:
- The Giving Keys Mini Key Necklace ($45)
- TOMS Sydney Sunglasses ($58)
- BLAQ Peel Off Mask + HydroGel Eye Mask ($58)
- Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream ($65)
- Drybar Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler ($23)
I have already tried a few of these items. I ended up choosing the sunscreen because of the items that I’ve tried, I liked this one best. I don’t usually get excited about sunscreen but this one is just really good and smells nice too!
It can be used under makeup as a primer, as well. The price tag is way too high for me to use this as an everyday, all-over sunscreen, so I’ll reserve it for my face only.
I liked the Kate Somerville, but didn’t love it. I’m currently using the Drybar but don’t notice much of a difference in my hair with it, unfortunately.
I can’t remember for sure, but I think it was $10 to add on items from this section.
Zoë Ayla Ice Roller ($30)
Only annual subscribers were able to choose their items in this category. The other choices are:
- Terre Mère Aloe and Tea Tree Toner ($54)
- Silked Satin Pillow Sleeve ($29.50)
I wasn’t really excited for any of these items. I went back and forth between the toner and the roller. I ultimately decided on the roller after seeing some comments about how great they work. I figured it would far outlast the toner and hope I get the same results others are raving about!
This is also great for summer because it can be used on bug bites and sunburns, as well.
The Lyfestyle Co. Beach Mist ($42)
Annual subscribers could also choose between this mist or:
- Isaac Mizrahi Loves xo, Sienna Vase ($28)
- Amika Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray ($37)
- grace & stella Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum ($25)
I would have been happy with any of these items if I wasn’t able to choose for myself.
I ended up going with the beach mist because I love all things beachy and the smell really reminds me of summer.
I also added on the blowout spray because I’ve come to the realization that as I get older, I need all the lift and thickening I can get!
To add on items from this category was only $7 per item.
For the last items, FabFitFun choose 3 out of 7 different items.
1. Riddle™ Oil Original Roll On $50
2. WINKY LUX Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil $16
3. Cali Cosmetics Foot Cream with Menthol in Tarocco $24
4. MakeupDrop™ Hybrid Makeup Applicator $20
5. Murad® Essential-C Cleanser $40
6. Spongellé Coconut Verbena Hand Cream $18
7. Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Mask 6 Pack $25
WINKY LUX Universal Eyebrow Pencil ($16)
This is a one shade fits all eyebrow pencil. I haven’t opened this so I don’t really know what color it is.
I have thinner eyebrows, but have no interest in coloring them in. I’ll likely give this one away.
Spongellé Coconut Verbena Hand Cream $18
I’m always happy to get hand cream so long as it’s not a strong floral scent.
This one is a nice coconut and lemon scent and perfect for summer.
Cali Cosmetics Foot Cream with Menthol in Tarocco $24
This is another item that I was really excited to get. The scent is orange and it’s so good!
I read a tip once to use face creams that you don’t like on your hands and feet rather than throw them away. I’ve been using what was supposed to be a super hydrating face mask on my feet but it’s just not working.
This is much, much better!
Summer 2020 Add On’s
Home Innovations Reach Tool ($9)
This is the only add on that I chose this season. I was on the lookout for eye cream or anything from Oribe, but unfortunately neither were an option. I talked myself out of many, many other items.
I chose this because I have a 5 year old with a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. It was such a low price that I snagged it figuring he can use it eventually.
This is shipping separately and has not yet arrived.
AFRM + DermEssentials™ Essential Stay Safe Bundle ($16)
This is actually the Boost Your Box item that I chose to add on. I guess these days hand sanitizer and cloth face masks are considered “luxury” items.
It’s kind of funny why I chose this. My fiance recently bought a digital printer and made us all plastic face masks. They are so hot and uncomfortable if you need to wear term for longer periods. And even though mine is pink, it’s still not all that cute. I look like a female Darth Vader!
The masks are really soft and comfortable. I kind of wish I got three different designs, but it’s not a big deal that 2 are the same. I like the floral pattern.
The other 2 box boost sets were:
- Grown Alchemist Hydrate Head to Toe Bundle
- Two Faced Replenish and HydrateBundle
These all sold out really quick. I think because they are just testing this out, the supply was limited.
FabFitFun Summer 2020 Final Thoughts
This was a really good box for me. Obviously, I prefer products that I’ll use and with the exception of the eyebrow pencil, I will.
But, since reviews are just a matter of personal opinion, let’s talk about value of the Summer 2020 FabFitFun box.
- Is this seasons box worth the $49.99 that I paid for it? In my opinion, absolutely. I received $321.00 worth of items (not including add-ons) for a total of $49.99. For me, what makes a box “worth it” is if I will use the large majority of the products. In this season’s box, I absolutely will.
- Next, does this box fit the season? I feel like it really does. The picnic bag, sunscreen, ice roller, beach mist, foot cream, and hand cream are all summery items or scents. The eye cream and eye brow pencil are more year round type products.
- Does this box hit on Fab, Fit, and Fun? The box always hits on “fab” and “fun” for me. There is no “fit” aspect to the box itself. There were some options in the add-ons but they sold out fast. Being that I’ve really been into working out lately, I’d love to see more items in this category.
