The August 2021 Boxycharm base box is here! I’m a little late posting because I was out of town, but this box shipped after my Premium box and I still haven’t gotten that one yet!
The base box items are typically a mix of a few well known or high-end brands with a lot of lesser known, lower value items making up the bulk of the potential items you could receive.
I was really hoping to receive the Dito Cosmetics Limited Edition Venus Palette. If I’m being honest, I only want it because it’s really unique and pretty.
I wasn’t super interested in most of the other choices, though so I would probably try a lot of them.
I’ve been surprised many times before, so I’ll try to hold off too much judgement until I try the products. Of course that’s only if I decide that I want to keep them.
Below is all about how Boxycharm works, but if you are already familiar and just want to see the products, skip on down to the August 2021 Boxycharm Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute). You can cancel the base box subscription after the first month of getting both boxes.
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, two of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

I should be back in our home and making videos consistently in September!
August 2021 Boxycharm Review
LAVAA BEAUTY Flirty Lash Set ($54.00)
I chose the lashes because they came with glue and an applicator tool. As excited as I am to now have several pairs of lashes, I have yet to actually wear them.
They look really long, so I’m not sure they will work for me, but hopefully I’ll get to try them out sometime soon!
The other choice items were:
- DR LILI FAN Probiotic Xlash Enhancer
- PURLISSE Ageless Glow Serum BB Cream with SPF 40
- ICONIC LONDON Ultimate Bronzing Powder
This product is made in China.
Laura Geller The Casual Collection Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette ($45.00)
This palette is so pretty!
I always say that I am on palette overload and don’t keep too many of them at the moment, but I definitely need this one.
The colors are all very light and natural. It’s definitely more my style than the brightly colored ones.
This product is made in China.
Rockins Cosmetics All Night Bender Extreme Lash Mascara ($29.00)
As a die-hard fan of L’Oreal Carbon Black Mascara, I just can’t bring myself to believe that any mascara is worth paying so much for. Let alone a brand that’s not all that well known.
I’ve gotten eye liner from this brand before, but I’ve never used it.
I will likely donate this mascara. I have way too much to use up still and kinda really want to just go back to my tried-and-true one.
This product is made in China.
Clara’s New York Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid 100 Facial Serum ($24.99)
I’ve never heard of Clara’s New York, but I do love hyaluronic acid.
This one has some added ingredients, including vitamin E and adaptogens.
I use products like this in the morning and at night before applying moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid definitely makes the skin more hydrated and smoother looking.
This product is made in the USA (yay!).
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner ($22.00)
I said it before and I’ll say it again and again. I can never tell if toners are actually doing anything positive for my skin, though some definitely have dried my skin out.
I do love this brand and the fact it’s a hydrating toner. It has propolis, honey and hyaluronic acid in it, so I am sure it actually is hydrating.
I’ll give this one a try very soon!
This product is made in the USA (another yay!).
Final Thoughts
I plan to definitely keep and use 4 items from this box. The only exception is the mascara.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $174.99 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm. Since I only spent $25 for the entire box and plan to keep 4 items worth $145.00, so this box is definitely a good one for me.
The theme this month is “Go All Out” and I do think most items fit well into that idea.
I’m still on the fence about canceling, but the September choice item, has kept me hanging on yet again!
September 2021 Boxycharm Base Box Choice Items
The September 2021 Boxycharm Base Box Choice Items are:
- GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD Glow Stimulating & Exfoliating Treatment Mask
- BLINC COSMETICS Glow Getter Face Palette
I chose the Glamglow. I’ve used it in the past and really liked it. The retail price of it is more than double the price of the box, so I already know that I’m getting. my monies worth.
I have not heard of Blinc Cosmetics before, but the peach and light brown shades are very pretty.
