August 2021 Beauty Empties

Thanks for sharing!

Let’s talk trash! See what beauty products I used up this month as well as a brief review and where to purchase each one online.

I was making YouTube videos for my beauty empties, before an unfortunate incident at our home that had left us displaced the past several months.

We are finally moving back in, 7 months later, but it’s a mess so I need to hold off on the videos for just a bit longer.

I love empties videos and have missed making them, even though I am far from an experienced YouTuber!

Hopefully, things will be fully back to “normal” shortly. In the meantime, I’ve shared June, July and now August empties on here instead.

I linked each product to the best price that I could find online at the time of this post.

August 2021 Beauty Empties

A bunch of empty beauty products from august 2021 on a white background with numbers

1. OGX Coconut Coffee Scrub + Wash

If you’re expecting this body wash to be a scrub as well, don’t. There is barely any texture.

If you are tempted to purchase this because it’s made with coconut and coffee, do. It smells amazing.

2. Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo

This is my new favorite dry shampoo. I’m using a different variety from the same brand and love that one too. Plus, it smells like toasted coconut!

This dry shampoo goes on dry, absorbs amazingly well, and shakes out of my dark hair nicely too!

I can easily goes days without shampooing and without feeling like my hair is full of product and powder flakes.

I highly recommend it and it’s priced much, much lower than other brands! I’ve tried many high-end brands that don’t work anywhere near as well.

3. Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads

It my be my fault because I didn’t use these for a long time after receiving them, but they were pretty dry. There is no expiration date on the packet, so I’m really not sure if they are just dryer pads or if they were dried out.

They still stayed on really well which is always an issue with these types of masks.

However, I don’t think they really did anything. Nothing was noticeable different or appeared more hydrated.

4. Sun Bum Cool Down

This is another product that I held on to for a long time before using. This is mostly because I haven’t had sunburn in a long time.

I decided to use this just as a moisturizer while on a beach vacation, then continued to use it afterwards until it was gone.

It’s actually a really good moisturizer, however, I didn’t really get the cooling, soothing effect you might expect from a product like this,

I would definitely use it again, but will stick to my tried-and-true Banana Boat Aloe Vera for sunburns.

5. Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner

I love this eyeliner. I really didn’t know how much I loved it until it ran out and I switched to one from Tarte that is horrible.

This eyeliner goes on smooth, doesn’t bleed, and lasts all day.

I would definitely buy this again!

6. Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub

This stuff is everywhere! I received this one in the Fall 2020 FabFitFun box.

I think this scrub works great. My skin always feels smooth and super hydrated when I use it.

The only down side to this product is how messy it is. It gets all over your shower. We were staying in a rental temporarily when I used this and I had a terrible time trying to clean it all out of the small stand-alone shower.

In our home, we have a detachable shower head and it’s a billion times easier to rinse it out.

I definitely recommend this scrub, if you can easily rinse out your shower!

7. Milk Makeup Kush Lip Scrub

This is another product that I really love.

I have the worst time with chapped lips because once they start, I can’t leave them alone.

This scrub was so easy to use, that I stayed on top of using it regularly and it helped a ton.

My only complaint is that there is more than a half inch of product left in the tube even when it’s turned up all the way. I stuck q-tips in there to get some out, but because this took more effort, I stopped using it regularly.

I would definitely purchase again, but hope they do better at making sure you can easily get all of the product you’re paying for out.

8. Oribe Featherbalm Weightless Styler

I usually have really good luck with Oribe products, and have even bought some of their products full size after sampling, but not this one.

I have fine, thinner hair so I thought this would work great, but it simply did not. My hair kind of stuck together and felt stiff with this in it.

I’m not saying it’s a bad product. I feel like I am the worst judge of hair products because most don’t work for me, so this could very well be great for you!

9. Qhemet Biologics Moringa Tree Ghee

I believe this is a hair care brand for Black women, but I received this sample from Birchbox awhile ago and decided to try it anyway.

This product is meant to condition and detangle dry hair. It’s super hydrating, and can make my fine hair look greasy unless I use the tiniest little bit.

When I figured out to only use a very, very small amount, this stuff worked so good in my ends. It took me a long time to go through this tube because I stopped washing daily and my natural oils started working just as well.

If I had to go back to daily washing, I would buy this to add moisture back to my hair. It works great and smells even better!

10. Lovescript Sugarplum Body Polish

You can read my thorough Lovescript Sugarplum Body Polish review here. I will quickly say that it’s not the kind of polish you might think it is.

11. Rituals Harmonizing Foaming Shower Gel

I also used this on our beach vacation. I expected it to last the entire week, but I think I only got 2-3 used out of the 1.6 ounce can.

It is scented with Indian rose and sweet almond oil and smells really good.

While I did enjoy it, I probably wouldn’t buy it again based on how quickly it was gone. If I were to receive it in another subscription box, I would absolutely use it again.

12. Crabtree & Evelyn Spiced Honey Bath Syrup

Thankfully, I had this little tube of body wash also packed when I was on vacation.

If you’ve ever walked past a Crabtree & Evelyn store in a shopping mall (before they all closed down), you will know what I mean when I say that this product smells just like the store.

I like the scent and this body wash worked well. It definitely lasts longer than the Ritual’s one above.
