My April 2021 Boxycharm Base Box showed up kind of late in the month. It arrived a few days days after my April 2021 Premium box. It was also shipped with DHL, rather than FedEx, but delivered by the USPS, which is still having major issues in my area.
The base box actually has quite some potential this month. You could get products from brands like Natasha Denona, Tarte, 111Skin, Farmacy and a lot more.
I’m pretty happy with my box this month, but as usual, not every item was a win for me.
Below is all about how Boxycharm works, but if you are already familiar and just want to see the products, skip on down to the April 2021 Boxycharm Review heading.

What Is Boxycharm?
Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription. They send a variety of skin care, hair care, and makeup products and tools each month.
How Does Boxycharm Work?
This is where things get a little bit confusing, so I will try to break it down and make it easy to understand.
Boxycharm has 3 different types of boxes, their regular monthly base box, a premium monthly box, and a luxury box that is only available quarterly.
Initially, I wanted to only sign up for the premium box. I kept seeing a button for “Join The Waitlist” but every time I clicked it, it took me to the page to sign up for the regular monthly box.
As it turns out, you have to be a subscriber to the monthly base box in order to be able to add-on the Premium box. That’s right, you will get two different boxes each month – each with it’s own cost (more on that in a minute).
BoxyLuxe is a luxury box available every 3 months. You pay an additional fee to upgrade your base box to a luxury box. More details on this box are below.
How Much Does Boxycharm Cost?
Here’s a quick breakdown of each box, how much it costs, and what you can expect to get.
- BoxyCharm Monthly Base Box: this box is $24.99 a month. You will receive 5 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $120.00. There is a huge variety of brands from lesser known brands to very popular brands. There are also many box variations each month, so what I have in my box may be completely different from what you will receive.
- BoxyCharm Premium: to get this box, you must be subscribed to the base box for $24.99/month, then join the waitlist for Premium. Once you are activated from the waitlist, you pay an additional $35.00/month for this box. There is a note that you can cancel either your base box or Premium box at anytime after the first month of being subscribed to both. The Premium box has 6-7 full size beauty products, one of which you get to choose, with a value of at least $175.00.
- BoxyLuxe: this is a quarterly box that replaces your base box if you choose to upgrade. The cost is an additional $25.00. You will get 8-9 full size beauty and lifestyle products, with the ability to choose up to 2 products. The value of this box is at least $250.
All of the boxes are eligible for add-on’s, access to the pop-up shops, and rewards for reviewing the products that you receive in your box each month.
It seems as if there is frequently a bonus for new subscibers, you can check out the current offers on the BoxyCharm website sign up page.

Life is still a bit “abnormal” over here. I am really hoping to start making videos again very soon!
April 2021 Boxycharm Review
Earth Harbor Naturals Aurora Superfood Luminance Ampoule ($32.00)
I have been intrigued by Earth Harbor brand since I first saw them, so when the opportunity came up to choose one of their products for my box, I knew I had to.
I do have one other product from them called Marina. While it makes my skin feel great, it also makes my eyes water for some reason. This doesn’t seem to be a common issue with this product and I do have sensitive eyes. I just use it at night.
i’m hoping Aurora doesn’t cause the same issue since it’s a product that is supposed to create a dewy luminance that would be pointless while sleeping.
I love that this brand is plant-based, cruelty-free and woman owned, among many other great qualities.
This product is made in the USA.
Natasha Denona Ayana Eyeshadow Palette ($48.00)
I have been lucky to have received 2 Natasha Denona palettes now. There was also one in my November Boxycharm.
I do like that the Ayana palette is made up of more neutrals. Honestly, I don’t get too excited for eyeshadow since Boxycharm sends so much, but this month I love both the palettes that I’ve gotten in both of my boxes.
I don’t really care for the very first shade, named Harlow, but I love all of the rest.
I will definitely give this a try.
This product is made in Italy. This palette is a Boxy Exclusive. This means that the brand made a palette exclusively for Boxycharm.
Eloise Beauty Get Glowing Body Glow ($38.00)
I received a product similar to this in a FabFitFun box last year and was excited to try it, but because I was homebound all summer, I never used it.
Now, I have two bottle of gold body illuminator and I’m not mad about it. I thought you added this product to lotion, but it’s actually lightweight and buildable so you apply it afterwards.
Hopefully, I will get to try both products this summer, as we plan to venture out more, safely, of course.
This product is made in the P.R.C. (China)
Appeal Cosmetics Liquid Eyeshadow in Champagne ($21.00)
I’m not really thrilled with receiving yet another eyeshadow, but I guess it’s better than the 2 eyeliners in my premium box this month?
This is a liquid eyeshadow and the one swatch that I saw of it on Appeal Cosmetics website looks pretty. Unfortunately, liquid eyeshadows just aren’t my thing.
I’ll be passing this one along.
It’s also made in China.
Kndr Beauty Kinder Glow Highlighter Palette ($15.00)
This highlighter palette is not really something that I need. I do like that is has 4 different shades though, so you can see what best fits you or switch the shade up as needed if your tanner in the summer and paler in the winter.
I will saw the compact feels cheap and almost like it’s made for teens just getting started out with makeup. It definitely has more of a drugstore vibe, though the outer box is nicer.
I’ll also be passing this item along or donating it.
Again, this product is made in China.
Final Thoughts
This box is pretty good for me.
The retail value of this particular box variation is $154.00 according to the values listed by BoxyCharm. Regardless, the value is there with Boxycharm if you’re going to use most of the items.
This month, I’m most excited to have gotten the Earth Harbor Aurora Ampoule, the Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette and the Eloise Body Illuminator.
The value is absolutely there for me this month, especially considering all of this was just $25.00!
The May 2021 Boxycharm Base Box Choice Items are:
The eyeshadow palette is very pretty, but after just getting two that I love, with similar colors, I decided I didn’t need it and chose the Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Nectar.
